Also use a circuit breaker by the battery and a good fuse in the engine compartment for safety

Also have to have a kill switch in plain sight on the outside of the car if you're going to take it to the track. Most tracks won't or should not let you run without one for saftey reasons.

Remember, its a neon....why would you need to relocate the battery, its FWD, there is no benefit to relocating it for traction

As for the breaker switch:

Im using a 200amp in my car, I honestly dont know what is recomended as amperage goes but so far 200amp has givin me no prblems, and its a great add on if you disconnect your battery often....

depending on the battery weight it will bring you a tad closer to 50/50 :P

but really it probably wouldnt make a huge diff.

main reason I want to do this is it will be fairly easy when i'm already installing a speaker system / amp.

oh and less mess under the hood :)

1. A tad better weight distribution
2. Longer battery life due to less heat
3. Neater engine compartment
4. Better heat dissipation in the engine compartment

How do you bolt it to the floor of the trunk is my concern and why do I need a kill switch just because the battery is in my trunk?

Your gonna want to buy a sealed battery box, with an external vent you can run through the floor. You dont want those gases escaping into the trunk or inside your car. If you have a dry cell battery, you'll be ok. You can get one of those universal or Bling Bling battery tie downs. I moved the batt to the trunk on my old celica, it was a cake walk. I had my kill switch in the trunk... That way I could cut the battery off if I left the car sitting for a long period of time, of if I was nervous about a part of town I was in.

Just as the people said above... better weight distribution to get closer to being 50/50 front to rear. Won't really help you for drag racing but if you're going to autox or road course it'll help out some... not much but it's a start to get the car a little bit better balanced if you have coils and take it in to be corner balanced

Use an Optima Red or Yellow in the trunk also....
I have had mine back there for over a year and never had any issues at all....

My brother just relocated his to the trunk, and he just used the tray from under the hood and bolted that down. I don't think it's very necessary to cut a hole in the sheetmetal of the trunk just to vent the battery...there is plenty of air flow through in the trunk, with the vents from the factory.

Also, why a kill switch? I'm with traveler....nothing is striking me as to why you need one for having in the trunk, opposed to it being up front.

if the battery were to vent in your trunk that could be some very bad news. ie acid fumes.(my old battery did just this, while still in the engine bay.)

the disconnect is required for drag racing (on the back of the vehicle). ie a wreck with a fuel leak on the track would be bad news. disconnecting the battery would be 1 less ignition source. emergency personel are readily available, the driver may not always be conscious.

Post resurection....thanks
I never really did a how to for my setup, hopefully someone else will do one....
Long story short, I ran a 2gauge wire from the PDC all the way to the trunk to a breaker, then the breaker to an Ultima battery....
Then ran a ground from the battery to the inner fender wall....2years without a problem....
