Bigger or smaller tires?
Bigger or smaller tires?
What do you guys think, I'm getting ready to put my 15" wheels on and I was wondering what would be better... Bigger or smaller? I know that it will change what my speedo says, and all that.... But my point is, I know that smaller tires increase torque and bigger make you go faster on top... I like autoX, and thats pretty much what I've been prepping my car for... Sooooo, would using a different height tire help or hurt? Or should I just go with whats the closest to stock? Thanks in advance, stephen

For AutoX it is simple (unless you have a rare HIGH speed circuit. Smaller diameter than stock just wider. If you have to shift right before corner then go up one aspect ratio to move your gearing around to match the course. Smaller diameter wheels are lighter and require less torque to turn so smaller diameter tires and wheels makes for more torque available to accelerate. Wider helps get it on the ground.

15" are light, but you can find light 17" wheels if you want to put out the $$$. I've had my eye on the Enkei RPM2 17" - weighing 16.9-18lbs.

nice wheels of course, but expensive.
I'm tempted to put some snow tires on my AR-14's and throw 'em on my R/T...
