need help

Post by fastloudfzr » Sun Oct 15, 2006 6:57 am

ok so i got aem intake, pacesetter header, 3" exhaust, msd coil, magnacore wires, under drive pully.

Parts i have but didnt install yet are crane #14, 60mm throttle body, aem cam gear.

gonna get the oversized valves ,and crane valve springs, P&P, and shave .020 or .030 off the head.

Now the problem i am having is i want an intake that can really flow alot otherwise i am wasting my time with the bigger throttle body so where can i get a nice intake manifold? The cam doesnt really work till ya get to the higher RPM's so i need a better computer but have heard nothing good about howells computers anyone have any ideas? Also i wanna put a kirk long tube header on but need the computer to not throw codes when i take the cat off. so if anyone has any advice on what i can do to fix any of this it would be greatly appreciated? For the intake you could get one made by allmotormike on neons.org or try and get hold of r/t ernie to make one for you.

My CEL for no cat was gone within 25 miles, on a stock computer.

As for that massive exhaust I run a 2.5 turbo back and now I keep up with chipped 180 HP (which puts them at somewhere like 210 at the wheels) cars. You also have to remember that I am starting with a 150 HP motor so.......

EDIT: Forgot the point of my rambling:
If a 2.5 inch TB is enogh for me, I can't imagine how a 3 inch is going to do you any good, downsize the exhaust, or better yet pick up a Thermal.

If your not advanced at computer or tuning then do not go megasquirt. Its about $400 or so, but you have to piece the ecu together yourself and solder everything up. I do think a company sells one thats already put together, but you still have to splice it into your harness and have it tuned. Your best bet would be the AFX/R ecu.

its actually more around 200 unassembled and 400 assembled.
and you need a labtop to tune it. but you can set the rev limiter at whatever you want it to be. and the speed limiter is also removed.

You also need a dyno and wideband to tune it and tuning those things are a pain in the ass if its your first time from what i heard.

depending on what your setup is you can download a base map from some 1 else to get you up and running. tunning on a dyno would be best. but if you use a base map plus a wide band you could tune it to run pretty good but you wouldnt be abe to get the max potental out of it.

its basically overides the stock computer the stock computer will only operate things like ac, wipers lights etc. it will have no controle over the engine if u set it up with spark and fuel or you can use just fuel and still let the stock computer control the spark. a dyno would make it easyer to tune. goto www.megasquirt.info and read up on it it will anser alot of your queastions.

The rev limiter is there to protect the engine. I would still set a limiter on the megasquirt, but just a higher one. I would love to see what 9000 rpms would do to stock internals.

It can be any 01-02 ecu not sure if being atx or mtx matters. I got mine done at the dealer well my dads a tech for chrysler so he did it. I'm not sure what they would charge. If you dont have sentry key i dont think it really matters what vins in the ecu it will start.
