sentry module

Post by Dodge00Neon » Mon Jan 10, 2005 8:57 am

I just got a used AFX race Pcm, for x-mas. I want to put it in, but my local dodge dealer are a bunch of morons. I'm affraid they will flash the computer when i want them to just change the vin. Temporarily I just want to disconent my sentry computer so I can use the PCM until i get the vin changed. The problem is I'mnot exactly sure where the module is. Can anyone help me out.

Its programmed inside the pcm. You have to get the pcm flashed with the vin. If you're worried, send it back to howell and pray it doesn't take 4 months like the rest of things do at that joint.

I know the vin is flashed but there is a seperate sentry module you can disconect to have it work fine. One of my buddies worked for dodge so he's good friends with everyone up there. I just need to have it work tempoarily until people get back from vacation.

You need the sentry system in the car or by the key for the car to run.

You might try to pull the SKIM module out, it's under the steering column and has a ring that goes around the ignition. It has a simple 4 wire plug IIRC. Unplug that, remove your stock PCM and plug in the race one and see if it runs.

If it doesn't start the 1st 2 times, don't try a 3rd, it locks on the 3rd try.

But at least you can swap back in the stock unit and SKIM to get to the dealer if it doesn't work.

I think it would work... my car didn't have a Sentry and we were able to wire one in to run the magnum PCM.
