Duties???
Hey all!
Looking for a little info. I would like to buy a Mancini Racing Valve cover, but I am located in Canada, Kingston to be exact. I emailed the CO. and they told me the shipping charge, but said that duties and taxes are extra. I understand that the taxes are Canadian based (I think) but what would the duties be on a Metal Valve cover coming across the border?
Thanks!
Jordan

Whatever you do don't ship UPS/FedEx, or any other carrier like that. They get expensive when they start importing stuff for you. Use USPS/CanadaPost. Not only are they cheaper and just as fast, but they also don't stop half the packages at customs either so chances are you may not have to pay a thing.

If you ship it with UPS international express there are no brokerage fees. Depending on what the export invoice says( if it says exactly whats in the package) you will have to pay import tax no matter what method you use. You may be able to get the shipper to put "gift" or "warranty" and not assign the package a value, then you wont have to pay tax, BUT if the package gets lost or damaged with no value you will be SOL as far as getting your money back.

well I'm in Kingston, and when I was in Niagara Falls this summer, it took me 5 hours to drive there. SO, Thanks for the offer, but I might just suck up the fee on this as I REALLY REALLY want a powder coated valve cover as mine is pretty worse for ware.BlackRoseRacing wrote:How far are you from Niagara Falls?
If it saves you any money you could have it shipped to me at work(N.F.,NY) and we could meet up so you can pick it up on the US side

as you can see!
Again, Thanks for the offer BRR

You could hide it in your trunk or car somewhere and not declare it at the border, but if you get caught or they want to search the car and find it they get a little ticked. Then you have to pay tax and duties still. Usually if you're only over for a few hours they get suspicious of stuff like that. If you've been over for a couple days it's a lot different.

I didn't really read the whole post, but marakka (I think) was selling one in the fs section, you could probably get it cheaper from him.
