SRT 4 Shifter

Post by white2000neon » Thu Oct 26, 2006 2:40 pm

Ok i think it will work, but just making sure before i order it. I want to get a maddog 58% reduction srt 4 shifter thats 1 inch lower. Will this fit my 2nd gen. Just in case your wondering i want to use the srt 4 shifter because i want to use the shift knob from it instead of my factory one.

Direct bolt in....
But personally, I tried someones short throw, I think it was around 50%...
I hated it, to tight of a gate!
I personally took an SRT setup, hacked off 3"s off the shaft maybe 4"s and epoxied an SRT knob to the end of the shaft, minor grinding of course...and it is a short throw from 1-2 and etc, but the gate is not modded to the point to where you have to be careful on where you throw the shifter....
The guy's car that had the short throw liked my shifter setup better that his and mine costed under $10....

I was thinking about getting a maddog 50% STS because all the other ones seem like they would be really short for daily driving.

The STS shifter your talking about also narrows the shift gate majorly, the few people that have drove my car love the way it shifts, the gate is tighter than stock but no where near as tight as the maddog...

I really wouldn't go over 50%. I have his 50 and love it compared to my old Mopar STS thats in the white car. I think the 72 and 80 is really overkill and makes it harder to shift :-? He does great work but I just would go over the 50%

It has a small clip inside it but for the most part it's a press fit since all you need to do to remove it is pull real hard. I hear though once it's been removed it won't hold as well as it did before for how the clip is designed.

So it seems like the majority of the people here think that the maddog is a good shifter. I'll probally end up getting it and if i dont like it ill sell it and get a mopar sts.

The Maddog is really the same design as the Mopar, he just took it a step further to make it an even shorter throw. Chuck is a great guy, got a chance to meet him in person in Dallas earlier this year and he's very upstanding and just doing business with him he's a pleasure to deal with. I highly recommend his shifters!
