Lucent Performance is up!!

Post by haknslash » Sun Nov 05, 2006 11:04 pm

First off, let me say I finally have a site built http://www.lucentperformance.com/store/ 8) . I'm still working some of the kinks out but it'll get there eventually how I want it.

Second news of the night, check this out http://www.lucentperformance.com/store/ ... ducts_id=7

Pricing is yet to be announced. I need to know if the fenders or anything is different on the gen2 versus say a SRT4. I think they are the same so all I'll have to do is remove my bumper. Is this correct?

As if that wasn't enough. 3rd news of the night is the unveiling of the chrome OEM style Bosch units. They look GREAT in person. Installed pics soon to come!

Do you know if the core support ios the same? Perticularly what I worried about is the attachment mount off the headlight that is by the turn signal. i'm not sure if that is going to interfer with mine. Ours just goes straight across at that point. I think it will be ok but jkust need assurance from you all since you often do the swap/SRT coversion.

About the preorders, I'll have a avaialbe date as soon as I kno exactly what all i'm going to need. Can you guys' stock headlights be opened or are they like the 2003+ where they won't open with heat?

If you guys can have the stock headlights opened that will do two things. It will make the overall cost cheaper as it will allow you to send me your existing headlights. But at the same time you will be without headlights for a little while. So it makes more snese to just get some new ones because for one, I won';t have to wait until your ready to send me your stock headlights where it will put you in the least amount of downtime. But you'll also get brand new headlights which will allow you to keep the stocks (for resale) and also have nice shiney new lenses.

No because your existing kit won't work with OEM HID components. They are entirely different as you have 9007 base and HID OEM is D2S.

What info do you need. You'll need to buy some Xenon BMW 3" bezels like I mention on the site but I can make those for you. They are my latest creation.

I will have the standard 4300k (best output), there is currently a VERY limited quantity of 5k geniune Philips available thru hidplanet. He also sometimes sells the very expensive but genuine quality Philips Ultinon (6k). As long as it's D2S and OEM HID projector base capable you can use whatever you wish.

Does anyone know if the stock headlights can be opened with heat unlike the 2003+ ones?

Stage 1 is just the projectors, headlights and labor.

Stage 2 is everything of stage 1 PLUS ballasts, bulbs, ballast covers/mounts and ballast connectors.

Neither of those staged kits include a bezel/shroud, which you'll need. You can buy those online from ebay or from hidplanet's forum members anywhere from $40-80/pair. I can make you a ABS shroud but it will be nothing more than a "plate" if you will to enclose the projector onto the stock reflector. Using the OEM bezels however will give you the cleanest and most OEM looking appearance. They will look VERY similar to the chrome pic up above with the bezel on.

The light output for the Bosch E46 is like this...

Thats sick. I have a couple of questions for you Hak, please deal with me, I've read through all the Stickys on SRTForums lighting section and there are still some things that are just completely oblivious to me.

-How is it that you can just use whatever cars projectors? Do the companines sell them independantly?

-Why do you not provide the Bezel/Shroud? What does it do?

-How hard is the install? Do I have to upgrade my battery? How would I go about mounting all of the extra stuff?

-If I wanted to upgrade to say, a higher Kelivn bulb to get the nice Blue/Purple effect, what should I buy? Just the ballast, blub?

Thank you for dealing with me, I will start saving up for these babies.

glasswars wrote: -How is it that you can just use whatever cars projectors? Do the companines sell them independantly?

Some companies sell them independantly. I only buy from the one company I trust with my life, hidplanet. That is where the majority of my parts come from. I have helped him run his site since the beginning and knew the owner before hidplanet was even thought of so we have history so to speak. I only buy from him.

-Why do you not provide the Bezel/Shroud? What does it do?

I don't provide the bezel and shroud because I would have to constantly deal with buying from an individual online from either ebay or hidplanets forums. I don't have enough time to sit and keep tabs on when and who is selling what. Also, some people don't care for a shroud too much. The shroud covers the projector lens area and the majoirty of the projector bosy. Without it your headlight will show the projector body. To some who want just projectors it's not an issue. To alot though, they want a completed look and go for some type of shroud. The E46 shrouds are made exactly for these projectors. They fit and look great!

-How hard is the install? Do I have to upgrade my battery? How would I go about mounting all of the extra stuff?

The install isn't too hard. I suggest buying a upgraded relay harness so that you don't rely on the neons stock wiring and MFS to power the system. It will be powered from the battery with a relay harness. Very safe as it makes your headlights a "standalone" electrical upgrade from the rest of the car.

-If I wanted to upgrade to say, a higher Kelivn bulb to get the nice Blue/Purple effect, what should I buy? Just the ballast, blub?

You really don't need to upgrade the bulb. The cool color flickering effect you see on oem HID projector cars is caused form the projector itself, NOT THE BULB. These Bosch units provide plenty of colors in their colorband, as seen above. However if you do want a higher kelvin rated bulb, you will need to contact sales@hidplanet.com and see what he has to offer. I will warn, the higher you go in kelvin, the LESS light output you get.

Thank you for dealing with me, I will start saving up for these babies.

The "Stage 2" package everything needed for a complete retro minus the OEM shrouds. I can make a custom ABS plate at a $20 add on cost if your not wanting a ultra OEM look that a OEM shroud can produce. The choice is up to you. This package includes: (2) Brand new R/T style "Euro clear" headlights from modernperformance.com (2) Bosch E46 HID projecotrs from hidplanet.com (2) Brand new Hella Gen ballasts from hidplanet.com (2) Brand new ballast plugs (2) Brand new ballast protection covers/mounts from hidplanet.com (2) Brand new Philips D2S 4300k bulbs from hidplanet.co, all labor and all materials. *THIS PACKAGE DOES NOT INCLUDE BALLASTS, BULBS OR SHROUDS. **I HIGHLY ENCOURAGE THE CUSTOMER TO PURCAHSE SOME OEM E46 BMW SHROUDS AS THEY MAKE A NICE CLASSY TOUGH AND COMPLEMENT THE RETRO NICELY GIVING IT A ALMOST OEM APPEARANCE.
I'm a little confused :-?

Actually it's funny you bring this headlight up. I'm one step ahead of you ;). I've been talking with a customer with a 2000-2002 model neon and is sending me those same headlights today for me to open up and see what projectors we can reinstall in there. So stay tuned....

The beam on those is totally useless. Look at the pic below for proof. Sure they create a typical "projector cutoff" but they only light up a funky rectangular looking pattern directly in fron of the beam pattern  . The rest of the beam is VERY weak :sad3: . Those housings make good candidates for a retro and that is about it  .
