I just want to see who's cars pull to the right hand side when you let go of the steering wheel. I need some data and statistics here, so everyone tell me what your car does!

Man, if I let go of the wheel on anything but freshly paved road I'm pretty sure I'd end up in the ditch. The roads are so rutted up here and since the ruts from the logging trucks are wider than the neon it constantly throws it between the ruts. Horrible. That said, on good roads I can track straight for miles. Somtimes on 400/interstate highways it'll pull a hair to the right in the right lane, and to the left in the left lane, but that's just from road camber.

Sounds like it's alignment time.

My car pulls somewhat to the right but that is because of the road is slanted to the right for irrigation system. If you drove on the opposite lane you will pull to the left

my car pulls to right everytime i get on the gas. some torque it has....

Not so. I know that most roads are crowned for drainage. Even if I'm in the left lane on a crowned road my car pulls to the right.

And I'm not talking about torque steer. I want to know if the car pulls to the right when you're coasting or cruising. Every front wheel drive car will have some degree of torque steer when you mash the gas....

That's just the thing. Every time I get it aligned, it pulls worse. I've had 3 alignments in the last year, due to working on the suspension or brakes and wanting to get everything squared up after each project.

Every 2nd gen I've driven has done this (we've had 6 in our family). I'm just trying to get some stats from this much larger community.

Just got mine back from the shop. Alignment guy says it is within specs, but it still drifts right...dunno!

if I get on it it pulls hard to the right.....enough that the guy beside me if racing thinks I am trying to run him off the road. So I always try to get on the right side any how.

I was going off of when I am driving (not mashing on it) and let go it dosen't go anywhere.. Even with mild acceleration

Try something. Find a dead straight and empty road (probably late at night or early morning. Perferably find a road that you pull a little to the right on. Start at point X and drive at a fixed speed. (ie. 35-40mph) See if it pulls, then merge into the oncoming lane and maintain speed, see if it now pulls to the left slightly. This would eliminate road crowning as the cause.

PS-> DO NOT do this with any other traffic on the road, its not my fault if you hit another car or crash or hurt yourself in anyway.

Its just a suggestion.

Mine will pull gently to the right until expressway speed are attained then it is dead straight. Only since Full Poly Bushing kit and Engine mount and Trans Mount inserts. Have not gone after why as of yet. Have suspicion that it has to do with the Engine and transmounts but noticed it a lot more after Prothane kit. Cross camber and caster were good.

Mine drifts to the right. I just had an alighnment in july, and it still does it, but granted not as badly. Just if I take my hand off the wheel for a sec, or drive w/ one hand.

Mine's done it progressively worse ever since shortly after I got the car. Took it in today to get an estimate and I'm gonna need to shell out about $200 for two new front tires and an alignment. The tires are worn about half way around on each front tire. The passenger's side on the inside edge (so much so that I actually got a flat yesterday), and the driver's side on the outside edge.

Mines more of a drift.. it wont turn corners by its self, and doesnt wear tires. think its more of a tire thing.... on a perfectly paved road it will stay in its lane for 2 blocks @ 35 mph. caster is equel on both sides and camber is 1/2 neg on left and zero on right.

Nah, mine does too. I alligned mine at school perfectly, almost..... See, I have my car lowered, this affects the caster, it said the caster is in red.. But since my car is lowered its going to mess up the specs... Ever since my car has been lwoered it has always gone to the left. My steering wheel is slight to the right to go straight.

I need to put it back up there an add more positive camber to the right side to correct the problem, even though my camber is in green.

I dont know what u plan to find from this poll. Cars are all different, they all drive different roads everyday, and theyre all maintained differently. variables like tire pressure, tire tread, tire condition, brake condition/adjustment, and most importantly alignments, make it so pretty much no two cars, no matter what make and model, are the same. even from the factory id bet that no two alignments are exactly the same.

Sounds like you have severe camber caster issues that need to be rectified.

All true. I just wanted to get some more input....because all 5 (model year 00-02) neon's my family has owned have pulled to the right, some significantly more than others. From the looks of the poll right now, it's a caster thing with my car specifically. The caster for the right front is off a bit (which I've known), and I can't change it without some $$ for adjustable pillowball mounts.

How far off is the caster side to side??? less than 1/2 degree than should not be a problem.

Now if say the right side caster is .5° more negative and camber is .5° more positive you will pull even though both splits are OK. They would only be marginally OK and combined may cause a pull. It may also be a tire or just road crown. Have one model of car at work that on normal road crown drives straight as an arrow but on reverse road crown like the left lane of our expressways the car will pull dead left. Not much I can do.
