new Dodge Avenger = baby Dodge Charger...
If they make this, I swear to God...
It's the new Dodge Avenger concept. If you look closely...actually, you don't have to look closely. It's a baby Charger! It's fucking gay if you ask me...it's identical to the Charger, with a front similar to the Caliber SRT model. If they're going to come out with a new car, make it absolutely DIFFERENT than any of the other models. God, sometimes Dodge just pisses me off...here's a link to the Dodge site:
http://www.dodge.com/en/avenger/index.html
I am real dissapointed in this car and hope they don't make it. I'm sure there will be some people who like it, but it's not different. I like different. What do you people think?

I'm not really a fan of it but the SRT version doesn't look half bad. Front end still looks like the Caliber, rear looks like the Charger. Now the Charger I like but copying something that's already out sounds like they're out of ideas

Exactly...I could draw up something better than that. It's sad, but I think Dodge is going down, and Ford is coming back up. I'm not a fan of Ford, but I gotta say, I really like that new Fusion. It's completely different than they have ever had. Glad it replaced that FUGLY Taurus.
But anyways, back on topic, I believe Jason is right...Dodge is running out of ideas, which is sad cuz I've always been a Mopar guy. They better do something REAL quick, or they're going to go under...

Maybe they'll just holding back for the Challenger to come out
You really didn't hear anything about the Avenger, I mean there was a concept but best I can remember it was nothing like this.
As far as Ford, there are some things I like but I dunno... with how the GT500 looks I thought there would be more too it when I saw it up close in Detroit in January. Plus wasn't there something out recently saying Ford posted a loss of almost 6 billion last quarter
I dunno... seems like they've got some changes to make before I start saying they're making a come back...

dodge is giving more big power than any other manufacture out there
I think dodge is doing alot of things right -
bringing back the Hemi was a bold move in a market that is dominated by gas prices . . . dodge is more worried about power while everyone else is worried about MPG . . . . theres not to many people offering a 6.1 v8 right now . . .
I think the avneger will end up being a hit - the 60 times are gonna be decent
and the SRT verison (MIGHT BE) AWD . . .
Also - With this car - the surveyed ALOT of the general public for what they would want in the car - thats the reason why theres a future turbo'ed 6 speed coming out - and rumors of AWD
Dodge is giving people what the way . . . americans wont care if gas is 5 dollars a gallon . . americans LOVE their speed and power
dodge/chry./jeep has like what 10 vehicles that will hit 60 in under 5.5 (excluding the retired SRT-4) - and most of them have the dodge badge
No other car manufactuer can offer that . . . and thats all pretty much based around ONE engine (excluding the srt-6 and the srt-10)
dodge isnt going anywhere anytime soon . . . looks at just the past 5 years how many good cars they have brought out . . .
As for ford . . . my best friend is a die hard ford lover (we talk cars atleast once a day). . . basically Where i see ford going is this:
Trying to offer people COMFORTABLE and RELIABLE day to day transportation . . . they only have like 2 or 3 cars that are super fast and super performing . . .the rest look decent and drive decent . . . thats about it . . . .
the Ford GT
GT500 and the Stang GT
Until ford stops focusing so much on their over seas stuff and puts alittle more focus back into their american sector - they will still continue to tail behind on performance stage
My personally - I like ford . . .I would only ever buy a ford or a Chry. product . . .
If you want a car that you can just drive and drive everyday and be somewhat bored - buy a ford or a toyota - if you want a car that will rocket you around . . buy a dodge . . . thats how its ALWAYS been . . .and probably how it will be for along time . . . dodge has always been way more geared toward the motorheads

Yeah, I'm sure it will perform VERY well...Dodge always does. I just think it's stupid to bring out a brand new car that looks identical to the Charger. I'm sure it's going to be a nice car, but DAMN, can't they come up with something ORIGINAL?!?! Just my thoughts...

Did you catch the price? The 4 banger version SXT is starting at $19.5!!! FUCK THAT!
The R/T version loaded out with the 3.5 V6 and all that is gonna top out at $30k.
Nissan Xterra or Pathfinder, here I come. If I need a car for car fun, Subaru 2.5RS (the WRX without all the fun) until the fuck it up and redesign it.

these are all "oringal" cars . . . they havent even been out but 3 year or so - and already your sick of them ?
have you seen some of the conept dodge cars lately ? they are all very original . . .
and lets not forget that mopar has been working on new crate engine . . . the rebirth of the 392 - and the re-birth of a possible 440 super commando . . . rumors are flying about the EFI 392 (which is currently safely holding almost 600hp) being an option in some of the future dodge cars . . .
the avenger was always more expsensive than the neon (now caliber) youd be lucky to get in the caliber for less that 15k (before greenslip)TeckNeon wrote:Did you catch the price? The 4 banger version SXT is starting at $19.5!!! FUCK THAT!

- not to mention most of us have access to a green slip - plus the gaggles of dealer insentives - youll be able to get one for not much more than a caliber which is how the avenger always was . . .
and why would you compar the avenger to an xterra or pathfinder ? you want a cool rugged car - get the 4 door wrangler or a rubicon

I'm not saying the Dodge lineup ISN'T original...I'm saying the Avenger design isn't original. It's a damn FWD Charger, and for the same price you could get a Charger that would absolutely SMOKE it. I love Mopar to death, but I really think they fucked up on this car. If they re-designed it NOT to look like any other cars they already produce (aka Caliber front bumper and Charger body), then I might like it, depending on what it WOULD look like. Dodge has made some wicked-lookin stuff, and even though the Charger doesn't have ANY similarities from the older ones, I still love that car. Same with the Magnum and others...they could easily design this car to look SO bad-ass and not like any other car they currently have.
What I'm trying to say: I like it, but it's not an original design. NEVER design a new car to look like another car in it's lineup.

I can see where your coming from supertrick and I think tradtionally its a bad move . . . and would agree with you - its never a good idea to have a near exact match of another car in your line up -
but I think this will pay off for dodge in the long run - we'll see -
I think the SRT verison will be hottt

the thing i dont understand is y they are bringing back the avenger i mean i can see the charger/challenger
the avenger hasnot been gone for more than 10years if that, and if i recall it wasnt a super popular car....
ps did anyone notice the "ers" chargER, challengER ,avengER ,vipER ,sprintER i think its funny
dodge puts the ER in ?bettER? eh i couldnt think of anything wittiER than that

I'd own one. Only in the 6speed turbo charged version. But I like it. I think it is way over priced (according to the pricing guide).

All of the pictures out I believe are the R/T. I built an R/T with sunroof and all the nice options and it was about $24.6. But Chrysler is saying that the pricing that's on the dodge website is not going to be completely accurate as they are still unsure on some options.
I really like the car, but I also really like the Charger. Everything that I love about the Charger the Avenger has it. I watched a video with the designers and the lead designer said they took alot of styling cues from the popular aspects of the Charger, and Viper. I personally can't wait for it to come out, I'll head down to the dealership and have a talk with them.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?! The concept is way more
than that handicapped version of the Charger.
