Is there any difference in the between upper torque struts in an Automtic neon vs. a manual neon? i got one a while back off ebay and it very different than the one i have on my car, the rubber is thinner for some reason, i'm thinking maybe this is from a auto, or maybe mopar updated the design or something........
do they have different part-numbers?

my neon is a 2000, mtx. i had the mount currently on the car changed at the dealer 2 years ago, the thinner mount i go recently was brand new, but i was not sure what year it was supposed to be, i was about to swap it, but i changed my mind after noticing the thickness isues .......
the differnce is significant actually, i compared both side to side.....
the design is similar, but the thinkness of the rubber parts holding the center metal part is different....both parts are mopar so it is not an after market......... weird!

1gens are completely different. Motor mounts in a 1gen are similar to the older FWD Dodge design from back in the 80's (one mount in front below the radiator, and a bobble strut behind the transmission)
Sometimes there are "flakes" of rubber on the sides of those mounts leftover from when the rubber was molded. Hell, one of mine looked solid when I took it out to put Prothanes in! I had to gently slice the extra away with an x-acto. Don't know if the one in your car might be anything like that.
If they're both Mopar parts, then I wouldn't worry too much about it. I don't know why they would make two different ones. My hypothesis... if the 5-speed mounts were indeed thicker, then people with automatic Neons would be switching over to manual mounts as an upgrade... something I personally haven't seen written anywhere on any forum.
