Well, my stock 4-disc changer in my R/T is on the fritz. I'm considering getting a stock replacement or maybe upgrading to an aftermarket head unit. I've heard if i use an aftermarket i'll lose the CD changer. I really don't care too much about the changer and I'd like to have more power.
Will i have more power with an aftermarket head unit or is the stock one pretty decent?
Will an aftermarket unit be okay for the stock speakers?

as long as you don't fade your sound too much to the rear u should be ok with an aftermarket headunit. Speakers break in over time so if you go easy on them with the new head unit for while the speakers should last. You will lose the ability to use the cd changer with an aftermarket setup. What I have always wanted to do is put my aftermarket radio where the cd chager is so ppl wouldn't think i have an aftermarket system from the outside.
My speakers didn't last cuz i had them faded to the rear by 20% all the time. Personally as far a clarity the stock radio is great compared to most aftermarket systems. But if you go with alpine you will notice a big difference in clarity. Currently i am running an Alpine 9847 (replaced by the 9857) with kenwood 6x9s in the rear. The front speakers are all stock.
