Yes, the origional plan was to have a 200 hp supercharged neon. And no, they chucked them. Although I must say, I do like the fog light area of the concept.

If only Dodge had left the "Neon" badge on the SRT as shown on the concept, this whole thing of "I drive an SRT, not a Neon" would never have started. Thanks, Dodge. :x

I drive a neon...I'm proud that the SRT is a neon !

Some interesting ideas from dodge...

For some reason no one has been able to find the concept engine with the SC on it

I also wonder if they rolled the concept into the show or drove it. It might not have had a running engine in it.

it'd be sweeeeet if somebody made that bumper for the 00-02's... it'd be even better if the bottom piece was carbon or kevelar ala backyard special.... but i don't see that happening any time soon :(

My above comment, "Thanks Dodge" was meant to be sarcastic. I share that pride with you.

The SlingShot concept that I saw at the Indy Convention Center last year had a working engine so I think that we could safely assume the same about the SRT.

why would you want a supercharged SRT? I think they did the right thing by going with a Turbo. Turbo>SuperCharger by a country Mile.

The Supercharged engine has a cover over it.. maybe there wasnt even a supercharger on it. lol

Dave,
I wasn't attacking your comment...I was just saying that I'm pround to call my SRT a neon :)

Well, you would think that someone somewhere would have spilled the beans about the supercharged engine if it worked...by now.

I knew that but your post made me think twice about how others might interpret what I had written. It's all good. :D

I alawys heard that the supercharged concept did not run.

I really like the concept, esp because it used 00-02 headlights and taillights.

Same here. Imagine an SRT with the export tails and bumper (rear fog lights)...

Its nice to see the kids doing their history homework. That concept was a Tom Gale era project. That guy did good things for DCX, now hes at Chevy doing the EXACT same thing. (Generic Motors Products FTL)
