got my can.

Post by 702Neon » Thu Nov 16, 2006 3:53 am

i finally got my muffler from Knoxville R/T. it looks awesome. here are some pix of it made by Knoxville R/T

Image

i got a quote from a muffler shop on the installation. and installation will be in about 2 weeks. my srt rear section will be put in storage for now untill i decide if i want to sell it or not. it's going to be looking sick when it done. and i'm restless to hear the sound of it. it has a 2.5 inch inlet so after my muffler is going to be put on i'll be saving up to put 2.5" mid-pipe on it for a full kit. so here's what's going on w/ my crotch rocket! :D

BTW: does anyone have a srt downpipe on sxt (03+)??? is the airflow better?

No, seriously, don't mount it at an angle, it'll look stupid.

its a trend with the fart can w/ jdm y0! hood tilt....

hood tilts adds like 100hp
fart can, 50hp

quite some numbers there.

im not bashing on you man. but a fart is just as loud as a srt catback, just a deeper tone. i spend about $30 bucks from jegs getting the glasspack and clamps. but hey man, its your call.

^yeah mine was the original. sadly it collects dust in my garage. saved me 20+ lbs and now my car sounds 10 times better IMO. that muffler quieted things down way too much! the tilt was cool tho, def the best way to mount a cannister. Im liking the no muffler look lately. i change my mind often, as everyone can see.

^^^^ so you ridin' dirty huh? no muffler? i have a srt rear and it's loud as hell. 3-4 months and you'll bve puttin' your muffler back on. when i'm going to be done with my can. i'll be spottin' a srt rear bumper and gettin' a Magnaflow muffler and making it look like a R/T style muffler. i want to have a variety to chose from so i would have something to do when i'm bored.

mine is at an angle. mainly because the way the piping runs which is why you see most mufflers at an angle on other cars. just depends how the piping runs...mount yours at an angle do what you want. dont listen to others unless it is something horrid that you are about to do. i honestly think it makes the muffler look better with a slight tilt

don't mount it at an angle......but its your car so.....and for the guy who said a fart can is as loud as an srt exhaust you are 100% wrong and i dont know how you can possibly think a pipe w/no muffler will be the same volume as one w/a muffler..... :tardbang:

like i said again. i only do it because it will be different from what other neons have over here in las vegas. i've seen one yeaster day that was electric blue in color srt-4 bumpers all around and a BIG a$$ bench looking spoiler in the back with srt-4 rear section w/ no mufflers. oh...and some rims. they all look the same. i only have seen one neon in las vegas that has a Mopar style lip kit on it. it was a 03-05 R/T and it is a best lloking r/t in las vegas area in my opinion. i was thinking about haveing a buddy club bodykit on my neon but i see alot of people have them now so i'm going with something different. (it's not even out yet) if everything will be going as planned i'm going to have a one of a kind neon. at least on the outside.

yeah any muffler will make the car quieter than w/o. even the autozone ones, though I would never ever suggest one. The higher quality the muffler, the quieter and deeper the sound. bottom line. however, a straight pipe with titanium particle (mine) is just as deep as any muffled exhaust would be, and sounds much meaner. I love it, and i dont mind the noise or teeth chattering vibration (caused in part by the suspension of course, but amplified by the exhaust dumping right under the trunk area).
