Engine not performing in low rev area
Been having some difficulties with my engine lately. Somehow it's not performing as it should in the low rev area. Whenever I pick up the throttle between 500 and 2000 RPM it feels like I'm flooding my engine. The car will not accelerate as fast as it should and it keeps on shocking (faster, slower, faster, slower etc). Once I get to the higher RPM's it's gone and the car accelerates fine.
It seemed to become less of a problem after adding a bottle of injector cleaner to my fuell, though it didn't last very long.
It's not that I go full throttle at low RPM's, it even happens when I'm gently pulling up.
Mind you, in first gear, pulling up is not a problem. This particularly happens in 2nd and higher. For example when I go up a speedbump in 2nd and the car thus slows down to below 2000 RPM, I'm having issues with re-gaining speed.
What can this be? Injectors? Sparkplugs? Fuel line? Iginition? Anything else?

Have you done any mods? A hotter cam can diminish low end performance due to cam profile and the engine running puke rich. Too little backpressure from the exhaust, plugs, wires. I remember when I got rid of my dis-2, my low end suffered a bit. Those are just a few things that come to mind. But then again, if your car is stock, ignore everything I just typed.

5w30 is the recomended oil for our neons.

but only for the 2005 model year, 5w30 for the rest of them

what country do you live in?
edit: i think i figured out where the differences in beliefs come from. i looked at your profile and saw that your website was a .nl instead of .com so i am going to assume you are from the netherlands. in which case dont listen to any of the oil weight info. in the states car manufacturers are trying to use as thin a oil as possible to achieve the highest possible fuel efficiency. many of the other countries in the world do not follow this convention and still recommend xw40 oils, which the US stoped doing back in the late 70s or so.

5w40 wouldnt be a bad substitute for 10w40.
the only 5w40 oils are synthetic as far as i know.
