ngc?

This is the place to ask questions about your engine components like cams, valves, pistons… just anything that is generally "engine" specific. This also includes questions about exhaust systems such as exhaust manifolds, piping size, mufflers, ect...

ive been studyin for awhile to whats the difference between the 02' and 03' (the start of ngc). there is some electronics that work different than the non-ngc. samething between the 02 and 03 r/t's. it wont be a direct swap. the engine harness and some sensors would have to be changed in order to use 02 electronics. but i am not sure what you exactly have to do so leave it the way it is for now and just do basic bolt on's, no major engine work is you plan to go that route.

also, you dont have a magnum engine so you wont be able to use an r/t pcm.

well, to my knowledge the plugs in the pca are different (along with some of the sensors)... my question is: are the wires the same color? if this is the case, why wouldn't we be able to take some conectors from an 02 and splice them in place so we can run an 00-02 pca?

02 and 03 engine wire harnesses could be configured differently. :?

The only thing that I'm anxious to figure out (when I've got more time on my hands) is what exactly is the difference in the crank triggers. From everything I've read, that's one of the major things that is foiling the whole NGC => non-NGC conversion. I don't know if the cranks themselves are physically different.

I am just going to be patient and wait for a flash or chip for the NGC. In the mean time I will be wrenching the bolt-ons.

Other than that I feel as if us NGC guys are beating a dead horse.

The crank wheel pulses at different patterns. Basically, if you put a pre-ngc ecu into an ngc car, it will not start, as the ecu will have no idea where the motor is in it's cycle.

I was talking to a guy at work and hes really good friends with a guy that flashes ecus and he said that hes gonna talk to him to see if he can flash our ecus and hes gonna try to see if we can have an ecu where we can flash it ourselves like the mitsubishi (dsm link) and the honda guys have (hondata). If so i think it will be a huge advancement for tuning in our cars. I'm not saying its a definite yet just throwing it out there. Also what did happen to the flash experiment thread?

Not gonna happen. Even if they guy does get into it, and see the jumble of un-labeled code, what the hell is he going to do with it?
