I've been thinking about getting a new set and working from there... and i've been eyeing this set... what do you guys think? I really like it, has what im looking for, double bass is a must.

I would recommend the export series. I hav had a 5 peice export for around 6 yrs now. It sounds great and can take a beating. I have had no issues with any delaminating or warped rims. i use a dbl base pedal as I am too lazy to buy another bass. You will be happy playing it!!

double bass FTL big time.....your not an 80s metal band so you dont need it.....they have a thing called a double pedal now and its quite effiecient...lol im givin ya a hard time but i would say no on pearl but thats just a personal thing i guess.....i have a dw and i wouldnt play anything else

i grew up in a yamaha house and they are like arch enemies of the drum world....they are nice drums i would just be excommunicated if i got a set......although my friends were ruined in a basement flood and my dw went through a flood unscathed

I would get a nice Ddrum set, whatever style you get, the extra bass drum is only $99! My drummer just got a camo 5-piece, with 1 rack, 2 floor toms, looks tough as shit, and sounds sooooo good with his 22x20" bass drum! They even make a double bass drum set for like $699.

ddrum isnt that great....they just add custom looks to cover up the poor quality.....i almost got one and then played it at guitar center and was very glad i saved my money....drums are one of those things you get what you pay for and i think for what you want either pearl or mapex will be good.....most heavy drummers like pearl for their thick shells and big resonance

My band's drummer uses a ddrum set, and it sounds really good, on the recordings we have too, dont exactly count them out.

Off topic a little: Can anyone do the gravity snare rolls?

I think you are talking adout a double stroke roll are you talking about like a standard roll. It is very basic thing there are about 40 rudiments for drummers 29 standard and the rest are hybrids. I started with marching then moved to a set. I agree with the double bass thats just a pain to lug around.

that is a really fast double roll....but if you watch he doesnt stroke the doubles out....he hits once then bounces the stick off the rim and just does that really fast...its like you hit the drum normal and then slant your wrist up so the back of the stick hits the rim

Yeah its all controlling the bounce I will grab my pad a make a video for you on how to go from slow then speed it up if you have control and can go into it like bad said!!

I can do it a little bit. I sort of just use the rim as a pivot point, and move my arm up and down, just a regular snare hit going down, and a smack coming up. It's not all rim shots though, which I'd like!
