getting the oil pressure sensor out

This is the place to ask questions about your engine components like cams, valves, pistons… just anything that is generally "engine" specific. This also includes questions about exhaust systems such as exhaust manifolds, piping size, mufflers, ect...

I went from the top of the motor, my advice, go to autozone and get an oil pressure sender socket, make things ten times easier. I tried with and without, save yourself a bad headache. Your go probably go from under the car if you had it jacked up but it can be hard to get around the steering rack.

I had to do both, but it was probably because I not only had to take the sender out, I installed a brass T-fitting so my dummy light still works, as well as my oil pressure gauge. I will say this, taking the battery and tray out will give you much more room to stuff your arm back there.

Best bet is to put the front on ramps. I probably wouldn't have been able to do much without that. MOST of the work I did was from underneath.

Pulling your passenger side axle will make things... dare I say it... simple. I chose not to do this myself however because then I couldn't put the car on ramps. Whatever way you do it, you're gonna come out pretty scratched up!

For the socket, either get the special sender socket or get a deep 24mm and use that. I used the 24mm because I already had it and it worked fine.

I used an 1 1/8 deep socket (six point) and a really long extention. (like 3 feet long) Made it really easy to reach from under the car...

I went from under the car, it's a tight fit but I got it. For the few bucks that it costs just pickup an oil pressure sender socket from Autozone or wherever and use it... it'll save you a big headache like FTWNeon said ;-)

Is that the only reason you took it out? I would think that taking the passenger side axle out would be much easier than taking the whole rack out. That would free up about the same amount of space.
