reseting your check engine light

reseting your check engine light

I fix my problem and now in need to reset my engine light any ideas? I thought about unhooking my battery.

Unplug the negative terminal for about 10 mins.
Unplug the fuel pump fuse.(I think thats the one)
Take it to the dealer and have them get it off.

Just disconnect the <->battery terminal. Leave the fuses alone.

disconnect the (-) terminal and turn the key like you want to start the car for 2-3 sec. Hook the terminal back up and light is gone.

This is how they reset it at the dealer, no waiting 10-15min.

Turning the key drains the capacitors in the computer which retain energy.

I've heard of something similar to this. They say you disconnect the negative battery terminal and step on the brake pedal (usually illuminating the taillights) and the power from the capacitors is used up. I like the key to "on" way better though I think. I'm gonna try that next time.

that's how they did it when I worked at a dodge dealership........
