Thinking about selling the ACR - again

Post by kc2005ptgt » Sat Dec 09, 2006 2:05 pm

Some of you already know that I at one time decided to sell the car, had a buyer, then my wife flipped and backed out. Well, again, it was brought back up and we have talked. I finally showed her the exact car I want and we tested it. She likes it, alot, so much that we may buy it if financing comes through (which I have no probs with, just pricing issues - $$$). So, anyway today I talked to my friend who works for Northtowne Hyundai, Mazda, VW and he lent me the keys to his car - a 2003 Honda Civic EX 2dr. The seller for my wife, and the only reason I would turn it down is the slushbox - ATX :(

Anyway, she is going for it, and I am thinking about actually doing it. I have set my terms for the salesman, and told him this is what needs to happen. He is going to help me get it, and we shall see. I posted a link just because you should see this badboy - it is SWEET. 1 owner, older lady who garaged it, no wrecks, no blemishes, pristine condition, and it still has warranty. Power everything, lip kit, spoiler, tint, 2dr... I like all that.

Fell free to bash and put down, or praise and build up, either way the ultimate decision is mine, and if I decide to trade in, then I will be driving the car I wanted before I ended up buying my little girl (the ACR). Also, feel free to make offers to buy it  You all know what problems I have/had with it, and know how I drove it, so don't ask for specifics. Besides, I probably need this gone within the week. :D

Here are some pics and a link to the dealers KBB site with the car...

It's not a bad choice and at least it's Red, t3h fastest color Evar! Lol, so what made you decide to switch to this? I'd buy your car in a heartbeat, have a matching ACR and R/T...hmm, my brother needs a car soon, maybe I could show him yours and see what he thinks...

I dont like it

1) It's a Civic
2) It's an Automatic
3) It's not an ACR
4) It has VTEC

I have about a bazillion other reasons why, but I'll keep them to myself.

Yeah, but you drive an SRT4

I have always wanted a civic, actually a 2dr red one just like it. The ATX is disappointing, but my wife has pushed and pushed me for an ATX because she just wants the security of being able to drive my car. I can't get her to drive my car now, long story, so whatever. The reason I want this car is because it is what I wanted from day one back in July 03 when I originally was looking to buy a car - justa ll the hondas were too much and my credit sucked - 3 years later I have awesome credit now, as does my wife, and we have the money.

Go for a MTX man... that's my only complaint.

Teach her to drive a MTX and get one with a manual tranny.

1.7l engine...

I have a couple of friends with these cars. I don't know the years but they look like that. When I would drive them they didn't have that much get up and go. Plus for some reason they felt really cheap, more so than a neon.

But that's me...nice color though and gas would be awesome.

My wife loves her car, she wants to keep it. I wanna trade in my ACR. Personally, sell it instead, but you know - wouldnt we all? Thanks for the tips.

LowNSlow, I agree... doesn't look good though now, they want 13995 for it, I offered 11995 plus 6000 for my trade in, I owe 4200. Not a bad deal. So, anyway, I know an MTX would be awesome. I am seriously thinking about waiting because I do not want a payment over 200. Which is where I am at now. Too much

The car looks sweet minus the ATX. I just think the ACR is way nicer since its got four doors, adjustable suspension, and rarity in the market. I don't know much about Hondas except they do hold up well in value in the long run...

IMO, Keep the ACR 8) because, 2.0 DOHC Magnum > 1.7 DOHC Vtec, lol. Plus you'll save money too.

I was never a fan of how most Honda's look all cheapy-plasticy when it comes to the interior. Other than that, it's not a bad car... Oh wait... You said it's an automatic. You might regret that part...

DON"T YOU EVEN THINK ABOUT SELLING YOUR ACR. AND YES I"M TYPING IN CAPS BECAUSE I"M YELLING.

Seriously. Please don't sell that bad boy.....but if you must....you must. I just hate to see it go..it's already like an old friend. You just need to get a new cv boot and fix your shift linkage. Wa la, perfectly good car. And you could even put the stock ACR springs back on to make it ride better for the wife. Sure it's wouldn't look quite as nice, but that's trivial.

DON"T SELL IT!!!!

I wish it the magnum was a DOHC that would be awesome, but everything after 99 was a SOHC.

I think I am going to wait - for now. I REALLY want something else, but after driving the Civic for a while and then a Mitsu Eclipse, I just can't imagine downgrading in powa for aesthetics... and power windows and cruise. But that civic was REALLY a nice car. for 13995 though, it was not enough car for me. The eclipse on the other hand, I dunno, I would much rather wait for something like a 99 GSX personally... maybe if I wait and am able to sell it... we shall see.

Anyway, for now I have to put off buying because it just doesn't make sense right now. Sorry to those of you who wanted to buy some of my aftermarket parts

And thanks for the comments y'all!

why not look for like a 00 Accord?

I got a 99 Accord with 30k miles on it in pristine condition for $9500..

Accords are sooo nice compared to Neons. :P At least the suspension. :)
