stuck nut

got my srt rear section and i cant get the nut off of my clamp to take my stock exhaust off it's rusted and i sprayed it with wd40 a few good times but it still wont budge

use some penatrating fluid instead. If that doesn't work take it to a muffler shop and have them weld that sucker off.

the muffler shop wanted 20-25 dollars to break it loose!!!! i'm not paying that much just to get a nut off

So break it off and put a new one on. NAPA usually has the band clamps in stock. For $10 you can get a stainless steel one and not worry about it anymore.

hack-saw it then, cheap-ass *laughs*

I just look my R/T muffler to my local shop... they cut the old one off, welded the new one on, and it cost like $30

have you tried hitting it with a mallet? It might help break some of the corrosion without damaging the nut itself.

dang, someone paid 30 bucks to take an old exhaust off? call me next time u need that, i'll do it!

Just buy some penetrating fluid, spray it a few times, let it sit for a little bit, then you'll be able to get it off.

If you're refering to me... I also had the new one welded on for $30.
So old one cut, new one on, only $30

oh dang, well then, u got the better end on that deal.

I was gonna say, 30 bucks to swap a R/T exhaust onto a non R/T exhaust is entirely too much.

the exhaust seems loose and it's moving but it wont come off

Go get some PB Blaster, available at AutoZone, next to the WD-40.
Soak it down, wait 5-6 mins, (smoke 1 cigarette, which is my usual timer) then reach under and remove by hand...

ok maybe not, but after 5-6 mins with the Blaster it'll come right off
