Headlight bulbs
so my headlights seem a bit dim to me. I thought i should start looking into gettin some new headlight bulbs and i was wondering what you guys are using and would suggest. There alot of different options out there, but most look pretty cheap. Has anyone used the bulbs that MPx sells?

Pretty much anything that has a coating on it, such as a blue, purple, or any other color coating is going to reduce light output as it's filtering out visible light that would otherwise be shining onto the road. That type is only there to make your bulbs look blue or 'HID-like'
Silverstars have a slight coating on them but nothing like some of those that you can get on eBay and whatnot. Sylvania also has another set out that they advertise as being better but I can't remember what they're called, probably Silverstar Ultra
2003silverneonsxt uses another set of bulbs that he likes but I can't remember the brand. I'm sure he'll chime in on here when he's able...

I've been running the silverstars for about a month and have been very happy with the light output. They aren't so bright that I get flashed (for supposedly running high beams) but are a big improvement over the stock bulbs.

Silverstars +1, great and can get em at WalMart for cheap. They are 4000k bulbs, which I believe is the highest output you can put in a car without going HID.
Correct me if I am wrong.

I use to have Silverstars but swapped them out for GE Nighthawks. I like the nighthawks much better due to the fact that they dont reflect off the ground when its wet and they're cheaper than silverstars. I've only been able to find the Nighthawks at Walmart.

any 9007 silverstar bulb should work fine, i dont see why you'd have trouble finding them. its one of the more common bulb codes from what ive seen.

jonnymopar wrote:Bastard with your pre-03. Last I check, there was no Silverstar option for the 03+ fog lights. My brother has had Silverstars in both his Rams (97 and 04). NICE improvement.
I've been using 893ST silverstars in my fogs for about 2 years now. they're way better than stock. I also have silverstars for my headlights and turn signals.
I ran Silver Stars until one finally burnt out and replaces it "TEMPORARILY" with one of the original bulbs and notices they were exactly the same after only 4 months.
Also notices this with cool blues, and whatever else up to Silver Stars.
NEVER AGAIN got better stuff to spend money on than $25 bulbs that are the same as $6.50 bulbs in less than 3 months.
The first couple of weeks they were fantastic but slowly fade so you never notice they degradation. Save money and buy something else.

hey thanks again for all yer help, i went over to walmart and picked up a set of nighthawks cuz they were cheaper and i didn't really hear too much negative feedback on em. NOW i just have to put em in, anyone have any suggestions on that one? i took a look at the clip in the back but haven't devised any clever scheme to get it off, whats the trick? i thought about taking the headlights completely out assembly and all but i think the whole bumper has to come off for that to happen. so if anyone could gimme a quick tip or shoot me over to some write-up in the how to section it'd help alot when it comes time to do it. its too damn cold right now!

haha, sorry if i brought up a common subject, i tried lookin around but couldn't find anything related. Thanks everyone for helpin out, i refered to the owners manual and according to it you gotta take the whole assembly out. I'll give a shot at just twisting the dang thing out, then i'll try removing the whole thing if that doesn't work.
