competition audio

Does anybody actually go to professional events with their audio systems? I have heard of ppl rigging up vans and competting to be the loundest.

Heres my problems I am doing a term paper on the competition scene for car audio for my audio eng. class. If anybody could give me some direction for some decent info on how the competitions are judged and what kinda of systems ppl set up that would be great.
