exhaust tick?

Post by kirktalife » Tue Dec 19, 2006 11:10 pm

i have this fast "ticking" noise that comes around 3000-3500rpms, i think it is engine/tranny related but i brought it to a dealer and they said it was my downpipe/flexpipe. i got it checked at work and it seemed like it was comin from that area when we stuck the stethoscope to it.

so my question is, does this make sense? and has it happened to anyone else?, i hate this stupid tick noise and want it gone. is this somethin common? please help

thanks

My exhaust ticks... After the car's been running enough to get hot. It's because I used mufflers clamps instead of welding the exhaust. :banghead:

you may not be able to feel an exhaust leak, but an exhaust leak does sound a lot like a valve tick

In the flex the exhaust can be well dispersed. It happens fairly regularly. No big deal. You need a Flex pipe when your ready.

We have flex pipes all shapes and sizes at work, and no you can't really get any sort of "high performance" flex pipe.

i dont mean "high performance" flex pipe, i was thinkin more along the lines of gettin a downpipe or somethin to that effect. i know obx made one and someone had one for sale on here before, or can i get a header that goes right from the manifold to the cat?
