Me launching to 100 MPH.

Have a video that you threw together of your Neon? Post them here. Videos not Neon related should be placed in the Off-Topic Media board.

Me launching to 100 MPH.

Post by danman132x » Thu Dec 21, 2006 2:52 pm

Tell me what you think. I have been doing a few more launches recently, but is there any improvment I could do judging by this video? I have red Protane inserts, yet wheelhop is still very prevalent. Mods in sig, yet most are useless with the NGC

Yeah, I like R/Ts also. I really wanted an R/T when I bought my '02 SXT but couldn't afford it. Hubler Dodge here in Indy had a leftover '01 R/T with the Dodge Motorsports package (black paint, Slate Grey leather interior including the armrest  , logo stiched on the headrests, compass/temp mirror, sunroof, etc.) when I was shopping but dummy me didn't buy it (good thing too since the car I bought got totalled later!). I wouldn't mind having an '02 or '03 R/T for a daily driver if I ever have any spare cash (ha-ha!).

nice job, need to work on your shift from 1 to 2 though, looks like you only went to 6500 rpm which dropped you way below the 5k mark (secondaries open), but you did an awesome job on the 2 to 3 (which was my worst)!

Nice job :)

What brand and size of tires do you have on? Temperature makes a difference too. Once I put my red Prothane inserts in, I was able to do a couple REALLY smooth launches with no hop at all one day on asphalt (about 65 degrees out)....and the next day I couldn't get it to launch without hopping for the beans of me. :?

Dropping the clutch at 4000 and feathering the throttle a bit till redline in 1st is what I did to get no hop that one time. And the 1st to 2nd shift was peaches too....I wish I would have been at the track when I did it.

Well I had Kuhmo Ecsta ASX's back then with about 50% thread left. 195/50/16's. As the tires wore out some more, I got less wheelhop and more tire spin with my launches ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f6JC1FxaSMQ ) Now I just put new BFGoodrich G-Force Sports on my car and get lots of wheelhop again. 205/50/16's. I'm assuming that newer tires get more wheelhop since they grip better, while old tires allow more tire spin due to less traction. I would prefer tire spin over wheelhop though. Temp was around 78F. And yes, post from the dead...sort of.
