WHAT IS IT!?

ok the rocker arm, the thing that pushes down on the valve, whats it called?!, ive heard, rocker tip, lifter. whats the true name for that part, the peice that slips inbetween the rocker arm and valve stem and recives oil pressure to reduce noise and all that wonderful stuff, i know what it does and how it works, but the in the hell is it called?! please help...thanks.
