Buy a new drain plug with a new rubber washer on it.

There is a possibility that the bung in the oil pan is stripping out. It happened to mine. If this is the case, you'll notice metal shavings stuck in the threads of the drain plug, and if you stick your finger into the bung once the oil is drained out, you'll feel where the threads are all jacked up. IF the bung is stripping out, you'll need to buy a single oversize self-threading oil drain plug from the parts store for like $4. That's the cheap way. Or get a new oil pan off ebay for like $60.
Hopefully it's just the drain plug as everyone else mentioned. Good luck.

The only neon oil drain plugs i've seen don't have an "o-ring" that can be changed. It's an integral part of the plug, and the whole thing would have to be replaced. Is there a different style of plug out there that uses a removeable o-ring?Nick Drake wrote:Yeah they probably just haven't changed the o-ring in a while.

i just bought one at autozone, they list for 2.99 on the website, not sure if i paid less than that at the store. it has the gasket on the plug, M14-1.50 thread size with a 17mm head on it. no leaky...unless your threads are stripped out.
I may not have been born in the South, but I got here as fast as I could!
