What would cause a white residue around the bottom of my plug wires?
It isn't a thick reside, i can rub it off easily with my finger.

If you've washed your engine it could be from water, had a similar issue.

id say it might be dielectric grease, which is commonly used to install plugs and wires to prevent them from getting stuck on there and breaking when removing. However, if you were the last one to service the wires/plugs, and u didnt use any, then that would eliminate that possibility.
