dunno, but since it takes a minute or two to do u might as well do it.
The ECU would be starting with a fresh start after u installed the new air filter.
How do ur plugs look? Check the gap on them and make sure they are what they need to be.

i would say your mileage is reasonable.
its definitly not a desired mileage, but until you drive it normal and get a tank that way im going to say its reasonable.
i know ive posted this a few times. on the window sticker there is a range of acceptible mileage. on my 04 MTX SXT it says something like the lowest acceptable MPG is about 21. if i could find the sticker i would tell you exactly what it says. maybe someone that has their sticker accessible can tell us exactly what it says. it is right below the big city/hwy numbers on the sticker.

well i thoguht i would give an update about this incase other people have the same problem and found this thread.
I sent my car in to see what the problem was and they said i had flat spots on my tires and all my tires seemed to keep losing air, so i got all new tires.
went to the gas station and filled up (1.99 a gallon Woohoo!!!)
Reset odometer
I also drove very good during this tank, didnt stomp on it all that much
I calculated 31.28 MPG
So in conclusion the tires and my better driving habits made a great improvement on my gas millage

yeah somethings up with your ride there guy, cuz even with my turbo setup, i think i have better gas mileage than that.
make sure your brakes are adjusted properly, and your ebrake isnt sticking because, maybe the cable has stuck or something. get the car on jack stands and make sure at least the rear wheels free spin. then put it in neutral and rotate the front ones. make sure none of them are hanging or grinding when they spin. Dont know if wheel bearings are a big thing in these cars but i guess anythings a possibility. also check your 02 sensor... maybe even your cat... ive heard bad things about mileage, performance, and smell of a bad cat.
just some ideas
good luck

ps. the search thing does get old... makes one feel like their on the .org...

I get about 25 with a MTX around town and about 35 on freeway. That is pretty consistent, though in cold weather I get worse gas mileage and alot of short trips also kill it too... the combination of the two and I usually get about 20ish.

Everyone knows that for breasts to be "perfect" they need to be within reach.
Tank capacity is 12.5 gallons. The gas light usually comes on at apprx. 9.5-10 gallons, so thats about when you wanna fill up, just to be safe. Changing the air filter will increase your gas mileage about as much as it will increase your horsepower (1-2 points if youre lucky). If the old filter has tons of mileage on it, your mileage might seem to improve when u change it, but its most likely just returning to where it should be.aperson wrote:How big are the gas tanks on neons? I'm getting about 22mpg and I just changed the air filter as couple weeks ago and its slowly been getting better, this is normal right?
I get between 22-26 on average, with 20 being the lowest ever, and 29 being the highest. Im cool with it, cuz I know damn well why it gets as low as it does. Iron right foot.

the best thing for you to do is to put your handbrake back down, having your handbrake up will cause bad gas millage.

you need to recalibrate your turbo encapulator... it allows you to supply inverse reactive current for use in unilateral phase detractors and automatically synchronizing the cardinal grammeters. if its not adjusted right it will interfere with the modial interaction with magneto reluctance and capacitive diractives...
if you need more info watch this video by DCx techs... clears it all up

thats probably to be expected, if you are almost always in the city and you drive it that hard.

I am not 17 but like to drive WOT frequently as well. I have a 2002 SE With a complete tune up and driving WOT in town most of the time, I get around 21-23 MPG. I know that I would get closer to 30 if I drove normal but ...................................

ATX neons get much worse mileage. I know because I had one, once...4 speeds are bad, though it might've been because I had an 02 when they just put the 4 speed in and hadn't got all of the shift points right and bugs ironed out, etc.
Also, the more breathing mods you do, generally speaking your highway mileage will go up and your city mileage will go down, because your car is wasting less power on overcoming restrictions in the system, and so you'll need less gas to maintain a certain speed, but the car is more fun to drive so you'll stand on the gas to get back up to speed.
