Aluminum bung for sensor???

Post by Kevin_GP » Wed Jan 10, 2007 7:52 pm

I need to get a aluminum bung welded in my IC pipe for Megasquirt, its the same size as an O2 sensor. Does anyone know a place online I can order one, the local shops dont seem to have any.

Thank you.

Josh says Jegs or SummitRacing. If it's truly an O2 size, then it's M12x1.5. If it's a standard GM sensor then it's a 3/8 NPT.

Check that. When Josh and I were eating Sonic for dinner, he stopped and said...."the O2 bung is actually M18....not M12". So here I am relaying info. He also is pretty sure that what you need is a standard GM 3/8 NPT. If it came with MS, he said it should be the 3/8 NPT.

Sorry, I'm just the messenger boy....he's on his way to Wichita again to do drug screening for his new job.

Ok, M18 is what I thought it was. I bought a cheap spark plug fauler from the autoparts store that was M18. The sensor I bought from RS autosports, and it fits perfectly in the M18. Shrugs.

The other thing, I bought my orginal BOV with a hard pipe from a guy that had MS and the sensor was already welded in place. My O2 sensor from my wideband fit in the air temp sensor for MS. Im certian its M18, now I just need to get a bung in aluminum.

Hmm... that's odd.

Is this the sensor you got from RS?

If so, then it's definitly a 3/8 NPT thread. The 3/8 NPT may just happen to have a very similar thread pitch as the M18x1.5.

Yea thats the sensor. Its really close to M18 then, because it screws right in no problem. Odd, you still think Jegs or Summit is the best place to get the bung? The shops up here suck ass.
