2nd gen or srt
I have a choice, and im kinda stuck, what would you guys recomend to do, i can sell my 2000 neon, kinda done up, for 5grand and use that as a down payment for an srt, or should i just rebuild the motor, turbo it, and do the outside (10grand) if i put the money into mine, im keeping it till it explodes

Well they will both have advantages and disadvantages..
The 2nd gen will outperform the srt-4, and it will probably drop more panties than a stock srt-4, but it wont be as reliable as the srt-4, i bet it will go the shop way more times than a stock srt-4.
Id probably go for the 2nd gen but thats because i love doing stuff to the car, but if you are not really into it dont do it

I agree that modding the SRT engine (much more ready to take much more abuse) will be the way to go. I dumped my SXT for one......
These things are taking nearly 30lbs of boost, without complaint! You'd have to do some hella major work on that 2000 Naturally Asp. engine to be alble to take abuse like that! It's not hard to boost an NA engine (with about 6-8psi) to "barely" outperform a stock SRT......but......you won't find very many SRT's that stay stock.....
