Alright...today I got a wire rack to paint on, a plastic table cloth so I don't get paint all over the garage floor, and got a can of high-build sandable primer and plastic adhesion promoter for the injector cover. I'm gonna start on this tomorrow...got lots of prep work to do before paint though, cuz I want this to come out as best as possible. Stay tuned!

Well today is the day where I start priming and sanding. I'm going to start imediately after I get off work. I have only 4 hours to work tomorrow (Friday), so I MAY get to paint before the weekend! I'll definately post pictures, don't worry about that.

Here's today's progress...I almost started painting the injector cover cuz I was so excited! But I had to hold out until I had more time to spend on it. Anyways, the injector cover is sanded smooth and ready for paint. The valve cover needs a bit more sanding, but these parts should be painted before the weekend is over! Ok...here's the pics:

Are you doing anything special to paint the rubber nipple holder thingies for the injector cover? You might you into a problem with paint adhering to the rubber and engine vibrations causing it to crack/flake.

Today is the day where the grey becomes orange! I have put two light coats of paint on the injector cover...waiting 10 more minutes and put a heavier 3rd coat, and maybe two more coats after that and then I'll lay the clear on it! Then comes the valve cover...i'll post pics hopefully later tonight! I won't have them put on the car for a few days at least, but it will give you an idea of what it's gonna look like! Stay tuned folks!

Oh, just to let ya know...I am painting it with DupliColor's "Chevrolet Orange" for two reasons:

1. It's a lot more brighter and vibrant than the "Hemi Orange"
2. They didn't have "Hemi Orange" in stock at the time, but it's gonna look sweet!

Well the injector cover is done and I'm very pleased how it came out. I wish I would have put a few skim coats of filler across the top of it (it's kinda wavy), but it looks fine. I love the color, and it's a very high gloss without much orange peel. Anways, here's the pics:

I now am going to go to the garage and start on the valve cover, so you'll either see that tonight or tomorrow. Let me know what you think so far.

thats all i gotta say.

Next thing you should do is a wire tuck.

I'd really like to see a neon engine cleaned up, and might actually be the next thing on my to do list. :D

very nice work.....but sadly i must say i really dont like it.....props on the worksmanship as that is 100% one of the best finishes i have seen on a stock cover.....just think it woulda looked better without the letters shaved and it just pops way too much for my liking.....maybe a polished aluminum intake would change my mind lol
