The GUN thread...

Post by mynameiskiller » Thu Feb 17, 2005 2:52 pm

ok, im starting a gun thread, its open to whatever anyone wants to talk about reguarding firearms. lets see where it goes...

ill start with what i currently own: right now, its just this:http://world.guns.ru/handguns/hg112-e.htm
Star Arms UltraStar 9mm

and my shotgun:http://world.guns.ru/shotgun/sh03-e.htm
Mossberg 500p (full stock, no heatshield, 8 round tube) which is in "family hock" to my father because i had to borrow some cash at xmas time. good times, good times...

anyway, thats what i got for now, but lets be creative. a debate on favorite cartridges, rifle and/or pistol would be fun, whatever...but please, no "gun ricers" (i.e.: "i gots a Desert Eagle fitty caliba y0! i shot a hole in tank wit it") either know what you are talking about or ask questions to seek knowledge.

let the fun begin!

Guns are bad mmmmkay.

Though I did just go to the shooting range last weekend and shot a 9mm, .38 special, .32, .25 and .22 for target fun. That was awesome but other than that... I don't like guns :)

lol... guns and canadians go together like peas and carrots... :D

ps, i just took my wife to the range for the first time afew weeks ago. she actually had a good time and shot pretty well. she preferred shooting automatic pistols (9mm, .22) but would rather have a revolver for a CCW. the revolver we tried out was Smith and Wesson Model 37 airweight. it weighed less than a pound  and kicked like a friggin mule with plain old .38 special ball ammo. not really a "fun" gun to shoot, but very nice to carry...

I have an airsoft pistol. It kinda looks real from like 20 feet away and it hurts about as bad as getting hit in the face with a wet washcloth.

Right now I've got a .38 Special, two .22's (pistol and rifle), 410 and a 12 gauge. I've owned and operated firearms since I was old enough to lift them. My dad is the Great White Hunter, so it's only natural. I'm a good shot, but I've never been good at remembering the make and model of guns. I just know what caliber they are and how to shoot them (safely, of course). I'm usually too busy reading about cars and music to be that interested in guns.

I love to shoot them and I will always own them, but I still need to read the markings to tell you what model they are.

what do you do over there in germany? thats an interesting issue list... i wondered if our military still issued M-16a2s, i thought the M-4 had just become the standard. are the 16a2s like, late 70s/early 80s vintage?

M-249 is a SAW, right?

My last unit was all M-4's, I don't miss with the longer rifle anyway. Yep it's nickname is saw, stands for squad automatic weapon. We train for the next rotation in the sandbox. The a2 is more lke an early 90's version. Only difference really is it's length w/ the standard M-4. I fired expert with everything in that list except the beretta M-9.

Oh, and if the military has gone to all M-4's, then where the hell is mine, cuz I want one, plus, we have a few a2's in my unit. No, wait, I take that back, I want the XM-8 or the Barrett 468 upper receiver.......or better yet, an M3 Bradley

Ill probably be purchasing myself a G23 when I get my certs. (I dont want to screw with the testing and classes that civis need to purchase a handgun here in CA.) Im not a *huge* fan of glocks because of their safties (WTF is a little plastic tab on the trigger anyway?) but theyre simple, and easy, and light, and dont have many extras for clothing to get hung up on.

The family owns, well, a lot. Too long of a list to type out, and more info than I really want to put out on the intraweb. lol.

My concealed carry is a Springfield Armory M1911A-1 Tactical in Galco small-of-the-back leather. I also have a S&W 4506 (also .45cal) in the drawer next to my rack. Both are loaded with Federal Hydro-Shok 230grain ammo.

There is a 90# black Dobermann that sleeps on the rack with me. I have yet to decide if the Smitty is for protection or to put the put the perp out if his misery when dobers gets done with his ass.

I like .22 cal pistols for target practice. I use a Smitty 22A and a H&R 9-shot revolver for practice.

There is the usual assortment of .22 rifles and a .410ga H&R shotgon my uncle bought just before he died in 1952 in the gur rack in my office.

I went shooting at the Sheriff's Range last weekend with my Dad and brother... been a long time.

I forgot how much fun it is to go plinking. That and I got to fire a .357, a Ruger single-shot-six, and a Italian knockoff of a Beretta.

That.... and I want to buy a 10-22....but all i have money for is a Mossburg Intl model 702 from Wally world, anyone here own one?

As sad as it is, today was actually the first time Id shot anything other than airsofts in about 5 years. Shot 40 rds though a G17. My target has 29 distinguishable bullet marks/holes, with one giant hole right in the middle. My instructor said out of the two groups today, I was the only one who, if graded on their first day targets, would have qualified.

Just bought my first gun.... Ruger 10/22 Carbine.

Two words: LOVE IT!!!

I'm looking for a 22LR handgun, any suggestions?
Input welcome...

Primary use: plinking/target fun.

Looking for suggestions on a cost effective, reliable used or new. I've seen a Walther P22, but don't know anything about them (except 007 uses a PPK/P99) or how much they cost.

Is there a good classic bread and butter 22 (i.e. chevy 350 of 22 Handguns) that I may be over looking?

Good choice. Ive got one of those sitting behind me right now. If yours doesnt already have it, get an extended mag release button. While using the 10rnd mags its not so bad, but if youre like me, you will be sportin a few 30rnd-ers, and it makes it a lil hard to get to. Get a scope mount put on, also if yours doesnt already have it, and go at it.

Good times.

Yeah, I'm actually heading out the door right now to the Range. It's been raining all week, and today...perfect...sun,no clouds, 68F and a light breeze.

Been looking for a good place to buy 30-50rd. clips for cheap, suggestions? Yeah and i think i'll definately have to get the extended release and probably the quick bolt release mod too... might even do a trigger mod too.... oh the possiblities.

What scope would you recommend for 200-250yrd? and any folding stock recommendations?

My wife and I were awoken last night at 3am by yelling and pounding outside. We found out today that it was a druggie strung out trying to break into a neighbors house after they ran their car into a ditch nearby....

Guess who is going to get a hand gun this weekend....

Icing for cake: found out that she is a local school teacher... ain't that some shit!
