Woot! Gonna SRT swap!

Post by LCPLPunk » Wed Jan 24, 2007 3:11 pm

Hey guys,

After contemplating this for awhile, I think I have found the moment to do it. I talked with my supplier and he told me he has an SRT engine/tranny with 350 miles on it. He is going to sell it and the rest of the needed parts for $4,000. I'm sold. :)

I am starting this thread to catalog my engine swap and parts gathering. I will be putting this into a 2001 R/T and when it gets swapped I will of course have all my R/T parts for sale. :)

Wish me luck. :)

Well, unfortunately the grocery store is about 1/4 mile away from my house.

I do like to toy with her about having an SRt though. It usually takes me about 45 minutes to get to my parents house, but with an SRT i could be there and back in about 5 minutes.. i wish. :)

Well, scratch that plan, talked to the wife and she vehemently said NO. I'll have to see what I can do. I didn't get to tell her that it would basically be a brand new car, so maybe she'll go for that.

thats a good idea but it really wont help you much....the only way to learn is to get in there and do it yourself....you can only learn so much from books and videos....most of it is trial and error....motor swaps really arent that hard....if you take your time and nothing breaks it is really a couple day job.....the best thing i ever did was get a bunch of honda friends and did like 4 motor swaps in 2 weeks....even though they were hondas i learned so much about engine basics and motor swaps....next weekend we're putting a v-6 from a skylark into a grand am for this girl i work with....should be fun

Well it's just a little hard to work up the money / courage to take on something that huge. Especially with very little knowledge of the process going into it.

Ya, if i lived closer to you I woulda just had you do it. But i figured it would take too long to drive.

And how the heck did i get so lucky to get a 350 mile engine? ????

Sweet man...good luck. Is $4,000 a good price for a swap?? That seems kinda high. I was planning on doing this also.

4k is about what I'll have spent when all is said and done. it all depends on what you get in the purchase of the srt swap.

for 3.6k I got everything for the swap except and intake system (that was damaged in the car's demise). then there is all the fluids and the sentry system flashing deally-thingy.

From what I've seen and researched this about the Norm...
