What should i do?

Post by white2000neon » Wed Jan 24, 2007 9:47 pm

Well i am faced with a few options that are hard for me to decide which to do. I love my car, but its starting to bore me i guess because it sounds like poo because of the LTH, but its pretty peppy. Now my buddy wants to help me turbo the car which im kinda of leary to do this because it is a DD and i don't want to blow it up, but he said he could do it for under a grand (hes a sponsored drifter and gets everything dirt cheap) . I could get an SRT 4 in a few months (this is what i was really planning to do), or finish building the motor up with built bottom end ITBs cam etc.

honestly, unless it is NOT a DD, I would never turbo my car. Go srt4, much more potential.

Thank you someone else thinking the same thing as me. I might take the LTH off and put the stocker on with an srt exhaust with a glasspack. I love the way my buddies sounds with it, but then i wont be able to scare the ricers when i open the cutout. Hmmm decisions decisions.

I'm with KC on this. SRT was built to have a turbo, turboing a non-turbo motor is not for a daily driver and takes a lot of more work.

So far it looks like i will be getting a srt which was my original plan. Once i'm ready to sell my car everything will be parted out and the car put back to stock. So all aftermarket parts will be up for grabs.

hmmm. i am curious as to why you guys wouldnt turbo a car that " wasnt made for turbo "

for example...im looking into putting the Hahn full Stage 2 turbo system in my car....

which upgrades every part in my car needed to run the stage 2 on 8-10psi along with the turbo of course (only reccomended part is a upgraded exhaust duh) if i wanted to boost it over 10psi it says upgrade pistons and rods.

so i dont really understand.

05 neon SXT with 8k miles from carmax = 11 grand
Hahn Stage 2 turbo package = 4400.95.

15 grand turbo for a sxt that can put out 250hp at 8-10psi.

is that bad or something? laugh all you want if its stupid of me to be asking this, just reply regardless.

this is a tough one...
1) if you love your car build it up
2) if you are 'eh' about her let her go and get the srt and build her up

I really wish i would have enough money to keep the r/t and buy the srt because i believe the r/ts and acrs in the future will be worth alot of money i think more so than the srt 4 because everyone and their mother has one.

i say SRT, just becuase you can push alot more out of it in the long run. Either that, or just swap a 2.4 into the R/T.

Personally, I would rather spend 5k that the HRC costs and the other 1-2k to install and properly tune it, and use that as a down payment on a srt4. When I finally park my ACR and get a new DD, I will begin to work on it, maybe spend lots of money and make it into a 400+ hp 2.0L SOHC.

I say turbo the car. You say you like it and all which is a good reason to make it more fun for you.

Plus 2002 looks the best anyway...I really like the styling. With a car that isn't supposed to have a turbo you will scare the crap out of those ricers with a nice tssshhh.

You could always swap in a 2.4, more potential with the same car.

If you don't really want your car go for the SRT.

hmmm...you dont like how your car sounds with the LTH? I love how mine soudns...but then all i have after that is a magnaflow cat, and 2.5" piping, with a vibrant muffler. I love mine.

I say build up what you have, but if you really want turbo that bad, get an srt or just srt swap yours.
