Center caps for steelies?

Got a question on outside appearance modifications. Questions about body kits, exterior lighting, just anything thats a visual mod on the "exterior" of the car. Ask those questions here.

Center caps for steelies?

Post by neoncrazed » Mon Feb 21, 2005 8:47 pm

I asked the same question over on neons.org to no avail as of yet, but does anyone know if theres a kind of center cap for my 14" steelies? I cant seem to find any information anywhere on a type that would fit the neons steels. Any info would be much appreciated.

no, center caps won't fit on steel wheels because the center hole fits flush up against the spindle hub.

Are you speaking of an actual center cap for the steelies that would attach to the wheels themselves? Or are you wanting a center cap that covers the wheel bearing and such?

You hit the nail on the head. Something that will cover the wheel bearing.

that would be a dust cap and isn't related to the wheel itself. it's a cap that goes over the end of the hub to cover the castle nut lock on the end of the spindle. there should be dust caps on the rear hubs, but afaik, no m/y of neon has come with dust caps on the front hubs.

Yep, there isn't any in the front but there is one thing you can try. I'm not sure if the rear caps will fit in the front but you can try popping one of the rear ones off and installing it on the front. If it fits fine you can go to the dealer and order 2 rear caps for the front. Let me know if it fits and I'll look the part number up for you.
