Not totally original but I think it will work.

Got a question on outside appearance modifications. Questions about body kits, exterior lighting, just anything thats a visual mod on the "exterior" of the car. Ask those questions here.

Not totally original but I think it will work.

Post by bad93ex » Thu Feb 01, 2007 1:04 pm

I am rattling around a few ideas on how I want to set up my wife's neon. Well it will be mine once I buy her another vehicle. I know what I want to do as far as the motor goes but the exterior and the interior are always things that I have neglected in the past in fear of it becoming ricey.

I saw a SRT on the other forums a few months ago that was gray and had some Navy stickers on it and such. I though it was pretty damn kick-ass because it had the mouth on the front reminescent of WWII fighters of years past.

I want to do the same thing but model the car after a F-14 as it is my favorite bird. As evidenced by my Myspace profile. http://www.myspace.com/bad93ex

I would like to paint the car gray on the bottom half of the car but on the hood and part of the fenders have it black/carbon fiber all the back to the wing where I could put some yellow stickers like how they have on this bird here: Image

That bird doesn't have the entire top black but I think you guys know what I am talking about.

Also I wanted to carry the theme over into the cockpit (interior) and this is where it gets a little hazy. I would like to know what color are the gauges inside? I would like to have as much carbon fiber on the inside as I can even though the birds don't have any inside. Besides that I am kinda lost and would be appreciative of any suggestions and insight.

Also can anyone do a Photoshop like how I described? Thanks ahead of time.[/img]

Most modern fighters (the 14 included) have carbon fiber cowls for the dash board. otherwise the entire dash is carbon fiber. And for the most part, the gauges inside that era fighter are black faces with white markings. When thier gauge panel lights are on, it is a reddish-orange color.

I did not know that. I have been in a cockpit (display) but obviously it was never turned on. Thanks for the info

its your car.. or.. your wifes car, to be exact... Do what you want to it, screw everyone elses opinion... why you think you gotta make your car for everyone else plessure, rather than your own?

Just do it tastefully...
and making it look like that jet.. would be a great idea! :D

That was a sweet Del Sol. The really cool thing is that hopefully in three years I will be heading to flight school and flying my own jet. :D

THREAD JACK!!! great lakes was cake...tell them you are allergic to penicillin though. (say something about it stopping your breathing). otherwise, you get a shot of peanut butter thick penicillin in the butt that leaves a lump for three days. it don't feel good. if you are "allergic" you get erythromicin pills. pills > shot in the butt

that and great idea for the car. go to JANES.com. they know everything about every thing when it comes to military toys.

I figure it will be as I know the Sailor's Creed and 12 general orders of a Sentry. I am actually allergic to penicillin so I am good to go there. I can't wait to get my Navy Career going as I am stuck in a little hick town at the moment.

I know this is totally irrelevant to this discussion (well, almost)....but... since I own a Miata I've come across THEE coolest gauge setups. Just throwing ideas out there because the first thing I thought of when I saw these was: HOLY PLANE.

I'm gonna help you, because it's in Japanese.
Go to this link, and then on the left side, click the first car... "NA". The next pic, in the "middle", the top one, click that. How amazing is that panel??

http://www2s.biglobe.ne.jp/~AWD/toutline.html

There's a few different options available as far as panels and gauges  I wish someone would make awesome Neon gauges like that.

But yeah, throwing custom dash panels like that out there... I like your idea, I might try and photoshop it tomorrow if I have some time

**THUMBS UP** for creativity!

Those are some pretty sick gauges. I will make sure I get a much more detailed look at the instrument panel inside of the F-14 before I proceed in customizing that aspect of the car.

That is along the lines of what I was thinking but with more NAVY emblems on the sides but that does look pretty damn good. Also I am going to go with a SRT front bumper.

I would also like to black out the interior as well as the top half is a light color and the bottom half is gray inside.

Added: Where the hell do you get those rims from they are awesome.

I have an idea what it is about because of my father who is a retired E-8 but I still have that small thought in the back of my mind that I will not like the service. Otherwise I can't stop thinking about all of the opportunities I will have such as them paying my student loans and also for them to pay for me to obtain a Bachelor's degree and from there a master's and a doctoral.

You guys may think I am crazy but I kind of want to go to Iraq and Afghanistan to help out my fellow service members in combat. I still might just try for SEAL's as I am 6'4" 245 lbs built like a linebacker/tight end.
