SOHC cam question

This is the place to ask questions about your engine components like cams, valves, pistons… just anything that is generally "engine" specific. This also includes questions about exhaust systems such as exhaust manifolds, piping size, mufflers, ect...

Post by submaster.nick » Thu Feb 01, 2007 1:40 pm

I was curious if I could take a cam out of a first gen neon and put it into my second generation neon and it produce a gain or what would you all recommend for a cheap cam upgrade that are easy to find.

What year is your 1gen? I'm almost sure I read somewhere that a 95 cam is an upgrade, but don't quote me for sure on that without checking neons.org because if I did read that somewhere, that's where it would have been.

Other than that, Magnum cam is good stuff.

'95 SOHC cam is technically an upgrade...but you'll never notice it. It's barely bigger. I've seen the specs on it somewhere..I don't have them right here though. If you're going to the trouble of swapping a cam, don't waste time with the '95 cam.

grab an 01 or 02 rt cam, if you decide you want a new cam, but don't want to go aftermarket.... no massive gains.. but definatly noticable, moreso depending on what you have done allready to the engine.
