First 2 mods ever 2day!!!!

Post by Vincentvh » Sat Feb 03, 2007 11:30 am

Hi all,

Finally installed my Iceman cai and vibrant front strutbrace 2day!!!
Took me a good 6 hours to get everything in and sorted out.
Is it btw normal that I couldnt get my bellowstube to fit and
had to use the stock (ribbed for her pleasure  ) bellows?

All I can say is that the strutbrace really made a difference
and the cai actually makes power (and a nice scooby sound)

all in all a very rewarding day!
Tomorrow I will be out and install the rear vibrant brace.

If you bought the wrong intake yes. I have the bellows tube for my iceman installed. Did you get the magnum or non magnum one?

I'm glad I'm not the only one then who couldn't install that freakin bellow's tube. I have an AEM CAI and fiddled with that damn bellows tube for an hour and said eff it, and put the stock one on. I bought it from another R/T owner so I'm pretty sure it's a Magnum intake.

On another note, when I took off my bellows tube and looked inside the lower plenum of the IM, there was oil pooled in there, guess it's time to look into taking it apart and cleaning it out real good and installing a catch can.

I can remember my first mods.

Nothing more fun than bolting some parts, getting a tune, and enjoying your new power.

No beers for me! Well I don't drink actually when I have to drive, And I needed to test it!

I just did it in a slow pace, had my parents dropping in, had to serve them coffee (-1hrs) had to find some bandaid (don't you hate it when you only find the sesame street ones?) -20min. test drive - 30min so actually it took me 4hrs with incorrect tools.

Btw fitted my rearbrace today incl cutting the carpet etc. 30min........

Just a question still: the psshhh dumpvalve soudn when I shift, is that normal?

i would check and make sure all of the clamps are tight on your intake.. that psshh sound when you let off, is a vacuum leak. It may make a loud sound like that when its cold idleing.. i know mine sounds like its trying really hard to breath air in, when the car is still cold.. thats just the idle air passage doing its thing..

if it happens when u let off the throttle to shift, that might be a problem. its very normal for the intake to make a slight whistle or woosh sound when getting back on the throttle after shifting (or when getting on the throttle in general).

Aha, I checked my shifting and throttling and the whistle happens when I hit the throttle again after shifting.
So I have nothing to worry about.
