splash sheild???

Post by Vernon » Sat Feb 26, 2005 9:45 am

how important is it to have the splash sheild that covers the crank pully? I had mine off to put in my motor mount inserts and am curious if i really do need to put it back on.

You don't NEED to put it back on but it does keep water from getting on the belts making them squeal. It'll also help keep you engine bay cleaner by not haveing water being flung everywhere by the belts.

and it also can help prevent debris from mangling your belts (incase you tend to run over tree branches and sticks) i had mine off on my 1g for 3 years and had no problems

and since you live in Canada, if you get snow in there it could cause the timing belt to jump..

uhh the timing belt has its own cover, we are talking about the fender shield that is removable to gain access to the belts (PS/AC/ALT)

He actually stores his car at the farm in the winter and drives the jeep all winter so we can go play in snow banks and hop over curbs at restaruants so we don't need to parallel park :P
