volt gauges

Post by racer12306 » Thu Feb 08, 2007 11:31 am

If my tax refund is good to me then I'll probably be getting an UDP, volt gauge and srt boost gauge housing. I've found a few digital gauges that are in my price range, $30 to $40. My main requirment is that the gauge is digital. Let me know what you think. If one of these colors will match the other stock gauges, let me know.

Gauge 1

Gauge 2

Gauge 3 (this is a fuel gauge, but it looks the same as the volt gauge)

Gauge 4

This gauge is made by the same people as gauges 2 - 4, but it costs $70. And I'm not paying $70 for a volt gauge. It looks pretty nice imo, but its just too much money.

I also found an Autometer digital in the cobalt series but its $100. And if I'm not willing to pay $70, I think you get where I'm going.

Anyone know how deep of a gauge I can use. I'd rather not hack up a new gauge to make it fit in the SRT boost gauge housing.

Mike: gauge 1 is sold under the name summit racing ( http://store.summitracing.com/partdetai ... toview=sku ). gauges 2 - 5 are cyberdyne gauges, i found them at JEG'S ( http://www.jegs.com/webapp/wcs/stores/s ... =cyberdyne )

Sam: 1 is a summit racing and 3 is made by cyberdyne. the trim looks to be a little different to me. not better, just different so gauge 3 probably wont be an option because it looks pretty close to gauge 1, but costs ~$10 more.

Digital Gauges

Post by King Crab » Fri Feb 16, 2007 2:12 pm

I really like the digital gauge #5. I never thought much about adding anything like this to my neon, but after I looked into it from this thread I'm sold. Thanks! :D

It depends on what color your illumination is. If it's still the stock green, then go Gauge 4 (that's what I voted for). I'm with Mike though, I'm not really a fan of digital, but if you matched it to the illumination, it would look good.

As far as the more expensive ones, I swear, I will NEVER know why a friggin voltage gauge costs that much. Air/fuel and voltage are, internally, the simplest damn gauges. If I ever want one, I'm building one myself. :)

i forgot about the illumination matching. i do still have the stock lighting, and i probably wont change it. i just put the stock radio back in and everything is green.

i was just thinking about being able to read it. think the green would be a problem in the middle of the day?

i was taking a really close look at the stock illumination.

the stock illumination appears to be more of a bright green. and gauge 4 is supposed to be an emerald green, which is a darker green right?

how do you think it would match?
