Which color wheels?

Post by quicksilvr » Mon Feb 12, 2007 6:29 pm

I've wanted Rota's for a long time. But, since it's virtually impossible to get any in the correct specs besides 15 slipstreams, I've come to the conclusion that if I want the proper size 17" lightweight wheel...I need to get some 5zigen Fn-01rc's. So here's the question. Should I get silver or bronze? If they came in gold, I'd be all over it and there would be no question. But they don't....so I can't decide. Bronze or Silver. Also, if anyone has any nice pictures of spacemanchiff's car from back in the day, that would be awesome. I can only find the little dinky ones on cardomain...

Another note...the bronze wheels aren't actually quite as dark as they look in this picture. And the silver wheels don't have as much difference in color between the face of the wheel and the casting behind it, like in the picture here.

Silver. Bronze and silver don't match so nicely, imo.

As seen in his sig his car is silver. I'd go with silver as well, not a big fan of bronze on silver.

I am trying to picture them on your car.... I like your SRT-4 rims the most... Buuuuuutttttt, if you are gonna get those I think the Silver would look the best, but I am quite partial to bronze. Its just that silver owuld be more subtle and not stand out as much. It would look good either way. But I choose silver.

Silver.

I wouldn't even consider bronze on a silver car. I would consider black or gunmetal.

 I knew I had jackie's vote for bronze before I even made the poll.

Here's more of what color the bronze wheels actually are...

Image

They're not near as brown as that first picture makes them look. Looks like most people are favoring silver, but there are a few that would go bronze. You have no idea how hard this is for me. I KNOW that if I get silver the car will look good, clean, etc. The question is if getting bronze would totally set the car off, or totally ruin it. I'll have a CF hood, tinted windows, and it'll be lowered on coilovers too....eventually.

Dangit, somebody has to have a picture of spacemanchiff's car saved somewhere. I need to see a good picture of his car!

I don't think I would have saved a pic of silver/bronze but I looked. I have none. All I have are these, at least this gives people a better idea of what color they really are:

Thanks for those pictures! I myself have never seen a silver car with bronze wheels. I've seen silver with gold....and I like that. Alot. Especially gold wheels with a polished lip on a silver car. Ugh. I'm going to have to see if I can get a chop done......rtgurl?

And here's the link to the chop station....http://forum.2gn.org/viewtopic.php?t=17362

That black neon above is Spaceman's old 2gn. Those wheels were on a red 1gn owned by a buddy of mine before that. They looked good on both those cars. Then he got a silver SRT-4 and put bronze rims on that. It didn't look bad, but it wasn't great either. Shortly after that he had the wheels powdercoated black. I'll see if I can dig up some pictures.

It's still 70/30 in favor of silver though guys......and there might be a good reason for that. I supposed I could buy bronze and try them out, and if I don't like them, sell them and get some silver ones. But then I'd lose money....never a good thing. I give up.
