Help need with ebay projector headlamps

Post by tybon » Wed Feb 14, 2007 11:59 pm

I just bought a pair of the ebay projector headlamps. They came with the high and low beam bulbs properly wired, but the halo rings and the 3 LED's are not hooked up. First of all, I'm not sure which one is the high beam and which one is the low beam. And I would like to connect the halo and the LED's but I don't know which wire goes where and I don't have the tool to crimp the wires. Can anyone give me some suggestions? Thanks.

Here are some pics I have taken.

The wires for the halos come out from the bottom:

The wires for the LED's come out from the side.

Ok I figured it out on my own... I did some soldering and got the angel eyes and the 3 LEDs hooked up. I soldered the 3 LEDs to the highbeam terminal so they are not lit up all the time (I rarely use highbeams). I know there are mixed opinions about these headlights, so I'm sharing my experience with those interested. Check out these pics I took at night with my cell phone and it was raining a little too :)

On my eBay headlamps, I wired up all of the auxiliary lights together, then connected them to the parking lamp circuit. They're always on when the lights are on, and they light up really nicely when I lock the car.

Did you think about possibly wiring up the Halo's and (3) LED's to the parking lights? This way when you turned on just the parking lights, it would light up the Halo's and (3) LED's.

I really like those headlights. What do you think of the quality of them? And how about the lighting at night, are they better then stock lights (w/ Xenon bulbs) or same or worse. Please give your opinions.

Thanks!

WykedHellFire: They were $140 USD, but after shipping to Canada and taxes they came out to about $225 USD.

t vago & NeonShowCar: I don't have control over the parking lights. Maybe it's a difference between US and Canadian Neons? The lighting is definitely better than stock, especially the output from the lowbeam projectors. And I did swap the lowbeam bulbs that came with the lamps with a pair of Xenon bulbs! (how did you know?) The material quality looks pretty good to me (nothing wrong noticeable).

dblsg: I know... but I wanted to put them on as quick as possible, and I'm not good with wiring. Maybe I'll redo them in the future but I'm happy for now :)

glasswars: The lowbeam angel eye is on when the lowbeam is on, and the highbeam angel eye is on when the highbeam is on.

I wanna' see pictures of the cut-off to see if they're actually 'worth buying' projectors... Can you get some beam pictures against a wall?

Heres a pic another guy posted of the cutoff awhile back. They are aimed horribly, but thats the owner, not the product.

Image

The cutoff is amazingly sharp for an aftermarket projector. I would say that these wouldn't be horrible with an HID kit, however, it appears that the beam is highly concentrated in the center, BUT! HID capsules place the "filament" in a different spot, so the output could get better.........or worse....?

If I had a 00-02, I would give them a shot.

retrofitted xenon projectors is the ONLY way to go i say ......

those lights look okay, but that projector output is pretty shitty compared to cheap xenon projectors

"OUTPUT" is based on the bulb, not the projector. An HID bulb in that housing, the "OUTPUT" would be much better.
