1st off they paid way too much for a car with that many miles.
2nd they should have read the fine print
3rd they should have bought that neon you found
try to sell the saturn for something. she will lose money on this deal. there is no way around it imo.

her mom needs to get the shit beat outta her...
whats the contract say and how long has she had the car now? only a couple of months... i would try to get the dealer to take it back. check the blue book value see what its really worth. i had a friend who kept having problems with his car/dealer so one day he just walked up to the manager, tossed the car keys at and said "here, its all yours cause i don't want it anymore". they ended up giving him a kick ass deal on another car.

shes had the pos (thats what i call it) for just over 2 months now. i have no clue what the contracy says and i highly doubt they do either. her mom really pissed me off w/ that shit. in perfect cond the car is only worth 3200. id say its only worth 2500 as it sits, prolly less. the tires have very little tread, it looks like someone tried to melt the steering wheel and ive already have to put 300 into it. its just a bigass head ache. im gonna try to get some more advice about takin it back and everything and seein if he'll give us a deal on another car. if not then i guess we just waited 1500 and will have to throw another 1500 to get that neon

If you got if from a dealer they will have their ass covered just by selling it "as is" with no warrenty or a buy back policy. If you try to get on their good side they might be willing to take it back, but most likely they will have a contract that says they don't have to do anything for you.
This is why it's good to have someone that knows cars to go shopping with you. Which for some reason they left you out of the picture...
She will take a pretty big hit on this car.

Your SOL on used cars unless you get a certified pre owned car. They sometimes come with a warranty.
Your girl is SOL no matter. Best bet is to go to a bank and get what ever is left refinanced. 3,500 ran me 110 dollars a month from M&T Bank. That will atleast drop the payment to something managable.
Other then that leave the keys in the car with the doors unlocked and the windows down and pray.

Did they buy it at a Buy Here - Pay Here kind of place that does the financing through the dealer? If so, toss them the keys and tell them to fuck off. There is nothing they can do up repo the car. You are free and clear of it no matter what condition the car is in when you give it back because they are technically responsible for the car since they are financing it. Read your contract to find out what you need to do. Hell, contact a local pro-bono lawyer and have them read it so you know there is no way they can come back on you.
If you have the money to go get another car, just go get it free and clear. If she doesn't have the credit or the money to finance another car, then she might just have to wait to get another car or find a job that pays more than $300 a month.
