n00b question

Post by racer12306 » Thu Feb 22, 2007 12:59 am

I just wanted to double check...

the 14"x5-1/5", 5x100, 40mm BS wheel will fit on my stock SXT with no problems, right.

also, what would be a reasonable price for one of these wheels?

i was just making sure they fit right thats all. if you have them on your se then i bet they fit my sxt just fine.

i am probably going to pic on up and carry a full size spare around pretty soon.

so what about cost, anyone know what i should spend for one wheel.

well, def not pay $50 for a full size spare. some guy on srtforums wanted 50 for an acr fullsize spare.

they should fit properly, although you need the to run a 70 series tire (185). thats the stock recommendation for a 14" wheel.

i thought the stock rec was 185/65/14 or 175/70/14.

i did the math and the 175/70/14 is identical in height to the 185/60/15 that is on my car now.

A 14" wouldn't be a full size spare either. You have 15" :)

Does a full size fit in our spare well?

its a full size because the overall diameter is the correct size.

185/60/15 = 23.7" tall
175/70/14 = 23.7" tall
T125/70/14 = 20.9" tall (donut)

the donut is 3 inches too short and has a 55mph speed rating.

i assume that a full size spare fits because the SRT-4 ACR comes with a full size spare. Ill go out again in a few to mearure (diametrically) when I put my xm antenna back up.

^ I know. I was just giving you a hard time. I was thinking of doing this with both my vehicles. But the $ adds up quick with a tire and balancing (unless you already have tire).

It's good to know that one will fit.

yes i do have 15" wheels, but wheel diameter doesnt matter that much so long as the overall diameter is the same.

i think PT's come with 16" wheels but their spare is on a 15" wheel. same thing with SRT-4 ACR's

yeah, my doughnut is a 13" wheel, and I am gonna do the same thing, racer, buy a 15in steelie and slap it in the trunk on one of my old 15" michellin harmony's. I hate the idea of having to use a 13" doughnut for ANY amount of time.

well, I found out I can get a steelie 15 for only $5.26 w/o tire, and $17.76 with tire. I am going to go for one w/o of course, but now I have to find one. :( All of the steelies in the j/y for me car were 14" or 15" aluminum (19$ for alum).

Anyway, sorry for thread jacking ;)

$5 for a wheel :omgshocked:

i found one yard that had a wheel for $15, i pull it.

and then there was another that wanted $45 off the car.

i think ill take a few tools to the yard and pull it myself.

anyone know what other cars had 5 x 100 bolt pattern that would fit our neons?

I think cavalier did... check on like tirerack or edgeracing and do a wheel search on several cars, they will come up with bolt patterns :D

Although, this info would also make good info for the faq that dave is putting together!

1gn or 2gn 14" steelies will work right?

yeah, as long as they are the 5 bolt - I think some early 95's had 4 bolt pattern. But all neon steelies will work on our 2gn. I did see some cool looking white 5 spoke wheels on a white expresso that were only 18 a piece. I almost want to get them for my car and Powder coat em black or gunmetal  Alas, no moolah for them right now.
