Cooling Fan keeps turning on

So its winter here, - 20 ish degrees

the car is idling and the heat is on, the cooling fan turns on...
the engine temperature is way below half

we turn the heating fan off and the cooling fan turns off too

is this normal?

i changed the thermostat and did a full flush last summer

any help appreciated tnx...

yes, anytime you have the heater or a/c on the cooling fan tuns on....

at least it got you to flush the cooling system and change thermostat....

mine keeps kicking on when i have it on defrost nothing else

When its on defrost, the car uses your A/C system to aid in defrosting the windows. The cooling fans are designed to kick on whever the a/c is running.

It was -20°C when I was sitting idling at customs last week and mine was coming on in a similar mannar. Normal for sure. Summer or winter my temp gauge never goes over half, it always sits at or just around the first hatch mark when warmed up. If it starts getting that high (at least with my car) there's probabbly a problem.
