Hansken_Yo: Back to the drawing board... :(

Post by hansken_yo » Thu Mar 01, 2007 2:02 am

The victim:

Clare was the victim of a head on collision from someone running a red light.... :crybaby:

I managed to walk away w/ a sprained thumb (from stearing wheel), bruised shoulder, and whiplash.

so... i don't know what to do right now other than hope that I can get things back the way they were.

The plan is to do the Brakes in NV, and the engine in WA.

as for the pics, I knew there was a reason I asked for a digital camera for my B-day....

Definately will have pics (I'll even through in the Beer drinking celebration ones when the job is done... - just for you TNK)

Wednesday. (I posted this, but it disappeared for some reason... oh well).

Well my insurance worked fast, saw Clare which turned out to be a total loss. The good news, they gave me a ball park figure in the morning and so I went shopping. I purchased an 05 SXT (silver) Practically stole it from the dealer for 10K. She has 22.7k miles on her and is somewhat under warrenty (the project explains the somewhat factor) I want to, though my parents don't read here, thank them for helping with the financing of the last 500-1000 bucks while I'm graduating and am not going to have a job for alittle while.

Ok...
First picture of her taken when I brought her home
Image
She hasn't develope enough personality for a name yet, but I am throwing around a few ideas so far.

Camile and Audry have come up so far...

I'll throw pictures up tomorrow when I'm breaking from school work, but Today I salvaged all but the CAI from Clare (that was crushed), and got them installed on the "new" neon.
This took a long time and my muscles have never hurt sooooo much. Besides loosing the CAI I also lost the Camber-bolts cause they somehow froze on and got severly damaged in the removal process. BUT!!!! I got my struts and springs sooooo the small loss was worth the larger reward (and I have to say that without the car being lowered I felt like I was driving a frickin yacht).

Saturday: Full SRT Brake Swap as previously plan will occur.
So tomorrow I'll take the last pics of Clare, and post the "before" pics of the New SXT (before as in after all the salvaging from Clare, but before the brakes get swapped and the new rims get added).

so its dropped and has a different muffler on it before it even has license plates

the good thing about silver is you can go a while with out washing it and it wont look too bad, it will just turn a different shade of silver.

I am insured by Progressive (their drive insurance)...
and I just renewed my policy... They told me they usually don't work this fast.. its about 2-3 days ish... So i guess i got lucky, but I'm not going to complain.

Schudel so far:
Tomorrow morning I start the brake work :)
and then monday I'll get the steering aligned w/ new camber bolts @ -1.0degs.

well... I had at least 1 brake on in the rear and the HowTo on the SRT rear brake swap is pretty helpful... the E-brake part we just ended up un mounting the handle and that worked really easy (there was no place to stick a punch through).

Then when my buddy and I were putting on the other rear spindle it became obvious that it was bent. It was not something easily noticable to the naked eye until we tried to put the rotor on and it would not line up. (the place that I order this stuff is getting a thumbs down so far...beings that they also sent me bad rotors the first time as well...)

So she is back to stock drum brakes for the time being and I will update when I get all the parts I need (in good condition) and have time to actually do the swap...

I did decide on her name today: she is now Audry.
I was talking with my buddy while we were working on her, and it just seemed to fit. Kinda funny how stuff like that happens (some of you might even think its weird).

So yeah.. Her name is Audry, and I've also decided not to post any more pics of her till she gets dressed.... (aka brakes and rims.)
