Quick question: SRT vs. Neon suspension

Post by neon2ner » Thu Mar 01, 2007 12:36 pm

i know that the srt-4 bottom spring perches are higher than a regular neon, to clear the 17's with the 50 series rubber. however, do the srt-4 struts bolt to the regular neon brakes with no issues? i've heard of people using srt-4 struts and springs (stock or lowering) on their base model neons. assuming this is true, i would be able to bolt up and srt-4 aftermarket coilovers (mopar stage 2's) to my suspension as well, correct? i have a 2002 R/T by the way. thanks in advance for the help.

All aftermarket coilovers for the Neon or SRT are the same. The only difference is the brakeline bolt. On the neon we have an L bracket so you would have to bend the bracket to have it bolt perfectly . I have Ipp coilovers that are made for the SRT and I just bolted the bracket on without even bending the bracket. Works just fine. The only other difference is that SRT strut lower spring perch is something like .2 higher than the Neon which will bring a drop up a little if you are using SRT struts. But usually aftermarket struts are shortened so I dont see any problems accuring.

Yes but you may as well just buy the real KW Variant 1 coils and not have to deal with the Mopar stop rings.

KW

Post by ACR MAN » Sun Mar 04, 2007 12:37 am

Did you guys realize that the Mopar/KW kits (developed by Sven at the SRT platform) have different spring and damping rates than the kits sold under the KW name only? The KW kits have higher spring rates and commesurately harder ride quality. If you want to go lower on the Mopars (and kill your front lower control arm bushings) you can remove the stop rings without too much hassle.

Main reason why I'm trying to avoid getting Mopar coils for the white car when it comes time. I love my KW coils on the black car and want to stick with the KW name, not the re-badged and softened up Mopars with an annoying stop ring that voids the warranty of them.

why not get coilovers struts for just a neon and forget swapping srt stuff over. it'd be cheaper and plenty of companys make neon coil overs.
pcm's do more in ten minutes then most people do all day
