For the longest time they were banned in Ontario. A couple years ago they changed it so that you are allowed to run them in Northern Ontario, but only under certain conditions. A lot of trucks carry chains in case they get stuck on the steep grades here.

it is illegal in missouri to NOT run chains on our cars, or you MUST have all season tires, if not, and you get into a wreck during bad weather, you get ticketed.

Why would studded tires be illegal??? tears up the road?
Nice look, TiNK!

Yeah, they banned them because they tore up the roads too much. I guess studded tires now don't tear them up like they used so they allowed people to use them again, but only in the Northern half of the province.

i have run my 17s all winter, but since i have to go over the pass, i figured i better put them on, cuz it would suck to get halfway to the pass and find out that traction tires are required and hafta turn around and go home. or to get stuck on the other side of the mountains cuz the pass requires traction tires on sunday when im trying to come home.
adnthanks for the concern on my trip guys and gals!
