when I accelerate hard in first or shift hard into second my BRAKE light pops on. I naturally thought that my fluid would be low so I went out and got me some DOT3 and took the lid off the resivoir and it was full, so any other possible causes?

It usually means there is a problem with your brake system or your parking brake is on. It could be alot of things though:
1. Bad master cyllinder
2. Something wrong with the power brake assist.
I would get it diagnosed somewhere. Any codes?

Didn't you say you filled it up once before in your initial post? It should not go be at a low level in such short time. Check for leaks, check the bleeder screw and all the fittings.

you should NEVER just open the up and fill the brake master cylinder. if you see that it's really low, like danny said -- something's wrong. you need to take it in to the shop for diagnosis, unless you really know what you are doing.

How low are your brake pads? If they are really low that can set off the light.

Most neons I have seen do not have Brake pad sensors. I have had mine to almost 2/32 of an inch and my brake light didn't come on.

when the pad wears down the liquid replaces the space the lining took u, therefore the fluid would look low

I did a post about this subject over on Mid-West about fluid level and the BRAKE lamp flashing. Xotic Neon over on that board had the same problem with her 2gn. Check out that thread. BTW: No Neons got pad wear sensors in any form.
A possible leak source no one checks is the back of the master cylinder where it bolts to the power brake booster. Fluid is drawn in from the cylinder to the booster with no signs of leakage.

They don't have pad wear sensors but when the pad gets low, the fluid gets low, setting off that light. It has happened in my car.
