for people with aftermarket recievers...

I'm trying to find out what the sound quality is out of the stock speakers when you upgrade the reciever. I've had cars that sounded better when the reciever was switched, and I've had cars that sounded better with the stock reciever. How do the Neons tend to sound?

I kept my stock speakers and changed my head unit to a Sony CDX-M8800 which puts out 4x52 watts. It sounded great until I blew out the front driverside stock speaker. I pick up some Pioneer speakers, all the wire and mounting adapters and installed it myself in about 45 min. I noticed that the highs came alive but lost some of the bass. The back stock speakers then blew out about 6 months later, so I pick up some more Pioneer 6x9's. All in all because I have an MTX subs package w/ 2 12" woofers, I find now that the whole system sounds crisp, clean, and fully rounded. I can really pump the music without anything to worry about. But yes the stock speakers are great until they can't handle it any longer...

definately better sound with new deck, chrysler has the best sounding factory speakers in my opinion. get a pioneer or a alpine for best results, if your speakers are still good youll know when to change them because usually the front 6.5's are the first to go on the neons

you can definately tell the difference when you swap head units.

Get an Alpine headunit and you'll know the difference. Just be carefull pumping up the volume.
